At Nkuku (Nuh-ku-ku), we create beautifully handmade home and lifestyle products. We work with artisans throughout the world, combining timeless design with traditional skills and natural materials.

We think that ethical business is good business, that’s why we work to make sure that all the people involved in Nkuku, from producers to employees, treat each other fairly and with respect.

Eco-Friendly

We care about the environment, and this has an impact on how we go about our work. We work with natural and recycled materials through sustainable methods of production, and this shapes our collections.

Handmade

We want to make sure that age-old traditions are handed on to future generations. This is one of the reasons why handmade products create the core of our business. The relationship between an artisan and a beautiful handmade piece creates a story and makes each product not a mass market item, but an individually crafted piece.

We have always been passionate about working with natural and recycled materials, through sustainable methods. Our choice of materials shapes our collections and brings stylish eco-friendly alternatives to the homewares market.

The beauty of handmade

An important founding principle of Nkuku was to support and work with artisans throughout the world, with particular focus on handmade techniques and traditional skills. We never wanted to create mass produced items, instead focusing on handmade artisan techniques, and the unique products this creates; keeping alive all the astounding skills we have witnessed. We were inspired by the artisans we met but were also aware of the challenges they faced.
