At nkuku we believe every product has a story.

Honouring traditional skills, we use our design expertise to craft unique products made from natural, reclaimed and recycled materials.

We are transparent, thoughtful and considered, bringing storytelling and character into the home. Intentional in design, and in action, ethical from the start — together, we can tell the biography of the home.

Because, every home tells a story.

Natural Materials

We work with natural, reclaimed, and recycled materials with a focus on sustainable methods of production, and this shapes our collections. We see the beauty in natural materials, from golden hemp and jute to sustainable mango wood. We make use of the waste leftover from other industries, including cotton from discarded t-shirts, recycled glass, metals, and textiles. Recycling allows us to create new and beautiful products.

We believe that trading fairly provides an opportunity to build a future

Ethical

We work with independent businesses, social projects, and co-operatives with a focus on building strong business relationships with all our suppliers, so that we can work together towards mutual success. Our primary focus is transparency, we see our suppliers more as partners and encourage open dialogue and communication. We make regular visits and employ agents who also visit our suppliers often, to assist with production queries and offer support and advice. We believe that trading fairly provides an opportunity to build a future. It helps businesses develop and creates sustainable employment.

Crafted

We celebrate traditional crafts using low impact methods to create our collections. The relationship between a maker and a beautiful handmade piece creates a story, which makes each product not a mass market item, but an individually crafted piece. The traditional skills used by our suppliers have been handed down from generation to generation. We value this age-old knowledge and hope to help keep it alive. We love the character in each item, and believe it is the unique handmade nature of our products that provides our point of difference.

Stirred by the promise of a summer well-lived, our new SS.24 collection invites the simple pleasures of relaxed, outdoor entertaining and intentional living within the home. From weathered, reclaimed truck wood furniture to mouth-blown recycled glassware and textiles woven from recycled linen, our choice of materials and celebration of traditional crafts is evident in our new season pieces.
