Efficiency in production for the small scale working model was a priority in the overall design. Making sure to use as little material as possible, the table is made out of a single slab of plywood. By using a series of slits that allow the wood to bend at a 90 degree angle made efficient production possible.

02 HOSPITALITY

Each year the Great Egret, a migratory bird, resides in the wetlands of Japan. Pure, tranquil, and rhythmic are words that encompass the ancient Japanese culture, as well as the Great Egret. Located in the Heart of Tokyo, the Shinjuku Hotel acts as an escape from the busy city and embodies all aspects of the Great Egret as well as its naturalistic habitat. The rhythmic structures in the lobby lead the guests up to the spa floor to find tranquility and rest in the nest-like guest rooms.
