Using a left brain , right brain concept. The left side of brain being more analytical, the floor plan represents literal space designed for basic living. Rooms like the clinic and communal center for gatherings. The right brain being more creative, gave the second floor more activity space. Rooms included are the gymnasium, music room and art space.

I developed the mirroring brain concept for purpose of balance. Studying the different sections of the brain and how it works, I wanted our residents to live how they think. 14

Waking up to the beat of the drum that we know as downtown Atlanta, brings a sense of self awareness. Being aware of one’s self and its surrounding Creates A Mode Of Independence. By living in the center of the city our residents will have direct access to recreation and mass transit. Our facility will provide on site treatment therapy and skill development courses. These conditions create a highly active lifestyle that will allow our residents to feel one with the community! All too often we see shelters and group homes placed in areas that can seem secluded and shut out from the rest! We wanted to create a space where our residents can show of a SENSE OF PRIDE and have an overall quality of life!

Color Psychology “On the basis of subjective reports of psychiatric patients and speculation by Goethe, Goldstein (1942) posited that the body has inherent physiological reactions to color that are reflected in psychological experience and functioning. The colors green and (to a lesser degree) blue are experienced as quieting and agreeable and focus individuals inward. Elliot, A. J., & Maier, M. A. (2007). Color and psychological functioning. Current Directions in Psychological Science, 16(5), 250-254. Chicago
Monochromatic Color Scheme W/NEUTRALS
Many variations, both obvious and subtle, can be achieved from just one color creating a sophisticated and calming environment. 18
COMMUNAL TERRACE
The spacing allows for individual areas of reflection while its communal nature fosters socialization. 19

Concept Sketch When we think of home we think of a safe haven. A home provides a foundation for one to build. By living in the center of the city, brings a sense of self awareness. Being aware of one’s self and its surrounding creates a mode of independence. Home is more than just four walls it’s who we are, it’s what we will be, and it’s where we are going! 21
