About The Artist

Passionate Landscapes by Artist Jen Larkin inspired by walks across Cornwall and the British Isles

Artist Jen Larkin lives and paints in beautiful Cornwall. She walks every day and takes her sketchbook, camera and a keen eye to places near and far - often camping en route during extended walks with her husband John, a survival instructor. Recent inspiration includes travels along the South West and Pembrokeshire Coast Paths, plus Wainwright’s 190mile ‘Coast to Coast’ route an epic walk from England’s West to East Coast crossing the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales the Cleveland Hills and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Artist’s Statement - My Paintings are born of the search for tranquillity. I find peace & quiet amidst fleeting moments of natural beauty. I also find this when order & chaos channel, then harmonise, during the painting process. The end result is my art. I constantly strive to push my work forwards. The process is a huge part of my life. I walk every day, near and far, sometimes camping en route. These walks stay with me, to be re-enacted upon my return to the studio...a journey of my mind’s eye. The rhythms of the coast path, or cross country, form an inspiration - a subtext to my work...an intuitive and emotional reaction. Further meaning is formed only when a connection with my viewer is made. I hope.

Commissions

Bespoke painting commissions and specialist design projects are welcomed and indeed particularly suited to Larkin’s unique talent...

Whether it’s the turquoise glow of an Italian Lagoon, a photograph of a memorable sunset or an abstract composition, I can produce powerful, evocative translations of yours ideas in paint or sculpture. I have had plenty experience of the commissioning process and have successfully produced work tailored to both the private and corporate environment. I can produce innovative, original proposals for a scheme of artwork or a single piece from scratch - or to a specific brief - on time and, of course, always to budget. I believe that the images with which we choose to surround ourselves do make a home, or workspace, truly unique.

“As an artist, this approach is an interesing challenge to me. instead of feeling restricted by the type of commission, I believe it gives me greater scope by which to show my range of skills. I always enjoy seeing the finished piece fitting well within it’s designated context.” - Jen Larkin

In addition, I understand that every image commissioned is as valued and important as anything on a gallery wall. Recognising this, I try to work in a way that is flexible; whether in terms of scale, colour scheme, framing or final presentation - yet without sacrificing any of it’s energy. - Jen Larkin Cot Valley
