As an architect with demonstrated experience in the building industry, I bring a global perspective and leadership in design. With 12 years of an international career spanning across Australasia, Asia, the Middle East, and America, I have a diverse portfolio of premium projects in multiple sectors including commercial, transport, education, hospitality, and mixed-use. Building on my exposure to cultural diversity, I promote a collaborative, flexible, and contextual approach to facilitate effective team management and the ability to deliver the client’s vision. In my recent roles I led the vision and architectural design for multiple project teams from early concept to detail design and documentation for complex, large scale projects across Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this, I have been instrumental in conceiving and delivering prestigious projects, working with leading international design firms. My experience in working across multiple sectors and markets allows me to engage effectively in complex and challenging projects in multiple stages, collaborating with multiple teams and stakeholders. I am passionate about placemaking, facade design, and sustainable design. My skills in integrating traditional and digital tools including sketching and BIM add measurable value in every stage of design and communication.
The following projects are examples of the design process and the thinking behind the outcome that I follow as a designer. Projects that come with complex challenges (program, planning, performance), and require collaboration across multiple disciplines, get me excited the most.
I am a firm believer in the workflows that take advantage of both traditional and digital tools, and the drawings here demonstrate my skills and passion for sketch and diagrams, which I believe are key to communicate an idea. The projects included here span a diverse typology, including Commercial, Mixed-Use, Retail, Education, Hospitality, etc. The experience I’ve gathered through exposure to a variety of projects has allowed me to become an all-round architect who can effectively contribute value to at any stage of design and delivery.
Green Spine: Design concept for new dining precinct
As Design Leader I was responsible for developing the design response to integrate the proposed Metro station and development above at Martin Place. I worked with the Design Director to co-develop the concept, which required careful approach, meeting all the development requirements in the heart of the city. I also led the team to deliver the required documentation, while coordinating with consultants and client. Mixed Use Development Albany, New Zealand As one of the largest upcoming mixed-use development in New Zealand, this project is one of the flagships that truly embrace the concept of a ‘Living Centre’. My responsibilities were to lead the architecture team and deliver the project vision, master-planning (mixed-use and commercial), architectural design and development, and visualization. I collaborated with my peers and consultants including those involved in interior design, sustainability, and services. I was also instrumental in coordinating with client and management to ensure timely delivery, and to facilitate council approvals. Later, I collaborated with the project team to provide detailed design and documentation. Phase: Vision, Concept & Detail Design Client: Scentre Group/Westfield Program: Commercial offices, Retail, F&B, Entertainment, Wellness Size: 41,800m2 (Retail & Mixed Use), 15,800m2 (Commercial Phase 1) Cost: AUD $363 Million Status: Council Approval, Expected Construction commences 2021
Early Vision and Feasibility Studies In order to ensure that the vision and the development brief are well aligned from the very beginning for the proposed flagship centre in the Westfield NZ portfolio, a series of design workshops and reviews were held, with active participation from the client and other stakeholders. As a Creative Lead for the overall architecture and mixed use components, I worked closely with the Retail Planning Lead and Studio Director to study multiple scenarios that will not only seamlessly integrate the existing centre to the new, but also maximise the commercial outcome in short and long term and deliver a vibrant, sustainable experience for the local community.
Overall Design Narrative
Retail & Mixed-Use Precincts Westfield Albany sets the next generation of the ‘Living Centre’ concept within the Westfield portfolio. It has a strong integration of mixed-use programs with significant exposure to Civic Crescent. This necessitates a design approach that carefully embraces the co-existence of activities.
Connectivity and Arrivals The Location and Context for Westfield Albany allows the new development great opportunities to connect with the public realm, recent and upcoming developments. The design response identifies the arrival moments along the boundary of the centre as one of the key elements which emphasises integration with the surrounding context. The architecture curates a sense of ‘Welcome’ for both pedestrian and vehicular entries through the use of built form, materiality and landscape.
Built Form Taking inspiration from the vast exposure to the Civic Cresent and Don Mcinon Drive, the podium embraces the horizontality and allows the centre to rise in a series of ‘ribbons’ that mimic the surrounding landscape. These ribbons curve in to create punctuations along the perimeter, which signify the key arrival areas. The restaurant pavilions and the towers rise as a series of cubic volumes, creating strong visual contrast, and bring in a sense of vertical rhythm. These volumes also are carefully located to allow for both visual and physical porosity, which is aimed to blur the distinction between indoors and outdoor.

For this winning bid for the international competition, I led the design package for the proposed East-West concourse (Central Walk) that will connect the new Metro concourse with existing train platforms, and the new entrance pm Chalmers & Elizabeth Street. This 16 week design exercise included not only development of design concept, but critical services coordination, detail design, material selection, and visualization. The design process required constant co-ordination with engineering consultants to navigate complex design and construction requirements. Central Metro Station & Concourse Sydney, Australia
Overall Design Concept
Organisational Principles
Daylight & Orientation
The proposed concept rationalises the current fragmented circulation patterns within Central Station, through a fundamental shift of people flow due to the introduction of the metro concourse and Central Walk. At key nodes and thresholds, in particular the Northern Concourse, Eastern Entry and Metro Concourse, create significant new volumetric spaces. These are generous, calm spaces allowing users to orientate themselves, providing clear, intuitive, safe uncongested and legible circulation routes.
The proposal seeks to maximise the use of natural light in our proposals, particularly in the subterranean elements of the scheme, to enhance the user experience. All key thresholds, have elements of natural light introduced and this also aids in orientation and intuitive wayfinding around the station. The natural and artificial lighting design also seeks to highlight key architectural features such as the textured walls in creating a striking feature in key spaces, and further enhancing the environment for users of the station.

NORTH EAST CITY FRINGE
SOUTH WEST EDUCATION + ARTS
SOUTH EAST CREATIVE PRECINCT
Illustration showing the 4 station zones once the centre of circulation within the station is moved by the introduction of the Metro Station and Central Walk.
Sandstone Excavations
Arch Geometry of New Interventions
The proposals take interest in the counterpoint between the historic sandstone station building above ground and the new Metro station box below ground, effectively excavated from the very same sandstone. The proposals incorporate a series of north south “cuts’ much like archaeological excavations, that delineate key areas of transition. These vertical slots are expressed in a profiled masonry material that reinterprets the historic sandstone facade, in particular their texture, layering and craft. This adds to the legibility of circulation and the intuitive navigation through the station environment.
The team developed the design of the new interventions so that they are perceived as a family of related geometric forms. These are based on the geometry of the flattened arch which is a dominant feature of the historic station and the approaching viaduct elements. This creates a harmonious composition where new and existing elements are distinct, but also establishes a clear and respectful relationship of the new elements to the heritage context.

Living Centre concept sketch The Western end is perceived as a Hospitality destination, with a multi-level food destination, and a 200 keys hotel with amenities. An rooftop Urban Farm compliments the programs and unlocks new potentials. Western End design development
Mixed Use Development Sydney, Australia The proposed expansion of the existing Shopping Centre aspires to become a new destination for the Sydneysiders and visitors alike. My role was to develop the brief and then create a strong vision that would set the course of the design process. The success of this relied on the identification of unique potential and resulting program mix on either end of the retail mall, which was further demonstrated in the architectural concept. Later, I collaborated with Architectus Urban Design team to develop the Urban Planning Proposal. Phase: Vision, Concept Design & Urban Planning Proposal Client: Scentre Group/Westfield Program: Commercial offices, Hotel, Retail, F&B, Entertainment, Wellness Status: Urban Planning Proposal submitted
The Food Story
Eastern End design development
The Eastern end is more civic in nature, with commercial offices offering spaces for co-working, and flexible tenancies. The existing bus interchange is re-configured to have seamless connections below, and create a public plaza at grade. Vertical transportation provided between Levels 1 and 2 will link the two levels of the bus terminus, and retains operating efficiency for both North and South bound buses. Landscaped light-wells drop daylight into the lower level.

This ambitious masterplan proposal is based on the background of the development of Western Sydney Airport, the Aerotropolis, Metro & Rail network, and related urban development. The World Trade Centre complex, as the focus of the mixed use development in the 300 acre site, perceived as an possible integrated development for business and innovation that reaches out to the university complex next door. My responsibility was to lead the design team to develop the overall masterplan, and the architectural language of the WTC complex. This was finally published as an investment proposal to NSW government. Phase: Concept Design Client: The Aerotropolis Group

Commercial Building Sydney, Australia I led the design process for this development proposal for a Office building at Waterloo. The design concept respected the original Masterplan which I was involved in as well, explored the views toward the central open ground. The central atrium spaces were interconnected with stairs, offering flexible lease options that allowed multiple floors for a single tenant. The lower level was treated as a mixed use zone for business and retail opportunities, tapping into the semi covered pedestrian corridor. I developed architectural design concepts for this 1.2 kilometer long convention centre along the Northern end of the Dubai Expo site. This included concept inception, and development of major public areas like the station arrival plaza per-function, retail, and outdoor exhibition spaces. The ‘Landform’ option (this page) was my concept to transform the entire development as an integrated public area, which will be accessible to the people even when no formal events are taking place. This option had been selected by client for further development. Phase: Concept Design Client: COEX Program: Convention Centre, Retail, Public Domain Size: 180,000m2 Status: Concept Approved

The new addition to the existing shopping centre required careful consideration of the relationship to existing civic building and public space. I led the revised architectural design response to address concerns over previous DA proposal. The new design responded to existing buildings which surround the Mondo, and incorporates a ‘finer grain’ which would contribute more-positively to ‘place-making’ as well as complementing pedestrian amenity via improved daylighting and sun-shading above the primary pathways. The proposal received full support from Urban Design Panel that led to the approval for the DA application. The competition brief required a signature building form for the new campus. The efficiency of space, yet remained a crucial aspect of design like any IT office space. Facilitating effective collaboration between the design teams in Shanghai and Mumbai, I provided overall design and management expertise, and also developed the facade concept. Given the unique monolithic shape, the facade design had to take in account the constantly varying angle of the surface from the Sun. Hence, the shading element of the facade had to be adaptable, yet somewhat modular. To optimize the system, different depth, width, and frequency of shading fins were tested across the surface.

As a core design team member, I was responsible for developing a context-specific, robust, yet modern design concept for the new campus in Dubai. The built form is the result of an intersection of two sets of clearly defined volumes. The outer volume, that encased the formal classrooms needed to be opaque and more robust. In contrast, the inner volume needed to be more transparent, as it housed the collaboration and amenities areas. The outer volume creates a protective barrier from the harsh climate. Shaded courtyards were structured out of the intersections. Phase: Concept Design Client: Amity Group Program: University Campus Size: 33,445m2 Status: Completed

The brief from the client required a vernacular and context friendly design solution for the Convention Centre, Club House, and sport and accommodation facilities supporting the sport event at the cricket stadium next door, and convention events for rest of the year. As a codesigner, I maintained the balance between the client vision and the modernist aspirations from the Design Lead. Green Connection Hong Kong I played a dual role for this project. It involved developing an innovative design approach to the functional requirement from client to physically connect the higher ground of the park with an walkway, and turn it a multi level public platform. I also worked with the sustainability team to develop passive sustainable features integrated in the design. Phase: Concept Design Client: Hong Kong Department of Recreation Program: Pedestrian Bridge, Public Platforms Status: Concept Submission
