We divided the building into two different zone. The upper part is dedicated to women only commercial use while the bottom zone contains all the public and general spaces. The paneling system is covering the upper zone to reflect the functions inside.

A pattern formation process which shows how facade panels are organized by both view and light factors. In certain places, analyzing the surrounding buildings and neighbors forced us to completely close the view. This process had been done completely parametrically.
Transparency panel organization
The facade patterns come in two layers. The first one is the different transparencies and the other one is color. There are over 14000 triangles in 8 different colors and four punch modules on a 32-panel type. Various percentages of dyes were used in the distribution of the colors according to the proportions in traditional Persian clothing.

Mountain view before construction
Constructed Building
By using a facade, the mountain revived. A huge mass inspired us to design a facade that was reminiscent of mountains. A large variety of vegetation-covered slabs in different heights recreated Tajrish Square’s lost but familiar backdrop. Lighting and use of interior spaces are influenced by the vegetation’s arrangement. They have different properties based on the position, function, and accessibility and attach to varying buildings and ground surfaces.

The Idea of recreating the mountains using the facade system and platforms, not only revive the lost picture of the neighborhood but will make the process of recovery for patients faster too. By creating gardens in different levels, patients will feel more at home.

On this site, the most challenging aspect was the vast number of trees. Buildings were built with a certain offset from trees, so there would not be an overhead roof to cover sunlight. This project challenged the more general question of how to incorporate a villa lifestyle into an apartment setting.

For the sake of site trees, we placed the columns which holding the traces from roof level, not the ground. So the columns inverted and hanged from the top roof. So in the landscape, there would be no columns and it is all the old trees. Also, there are yards (balconies) with 60 to 180 square meters area.

In this project, we faced a challenge to get released from the past conceptual frameworks and experiences. We not only tried to make the building memorable but also struggled to persuade the users to explore the whole project. We had a clear purpose: designing a restaurant with a limited budget but spatially exciting. The initial site analysis resulted in a “rotation” idea in the northeast corner, as a response to the traffic in the main boulevard and consequently creating the main entrance for the building. We consciously guided the users from the main boulevard to the alley and lead them towards the project’s entrance. In fact, we forced them to move around the project and explore it. In other words, the entrance was formed under the cantilever.

This project is designed on three levels. The first basement is assigned to servicing activities such as kitchen, staff room, and rest room. The ground floor and the mezzanine are the main salons. We have tried to design the circulation path as a unique space that not only plays a key role in connecting the main parts together but also creates a unique experience for the users.

Hormuz is a formerly glorious historic port in the strategic strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, South of Iran, that controls the shipment of petroleum from the Middle East. The island has outstanding colourful surreal landscapes. Oddly, the local inhabitants of the beautiful, touristic and politically strategic island struggle economically, getting involved in illegal trafficking activities using their boats. the infinite number of colourful particles, be they soil, sand, gravel or stone, pile up and form the rainbow topography of Hormuz island. In this project a carpet is woven with granular knots inspired by the particles that make up the ecotone of the island. The sandbags that create the spatial particles (aka domes) are filled with the dredging sand of the Hormuz dock, as if the earth has swollen to produce space for accommodation.

In Sistan province, one of the most useful everyday objects is a piece of garment called “Twal” or “Longue” which serves as a fardel, luncheon cloth, shade, cooler, mosquito net as well as leaning support. This garment which can be up to 8 meters long, depending on the person’s social status, is mostly produced in black and white checkered patterns. When using it as leaning support, the person would tie it around his back to his shins and would be able to remain in the sitting position for hours, “as if leaning against an invisible wall”

It’s interesting to know that the Tabriz Grand Bazaar is the largest covered brick market in the world! When you enter the chambers of the Tabriz carpet market, every door and wall is covered with carpets in a way that even the walking space is almost nonexistent. The design idea for this house is inspired by the Tabriz Grand Bazaar, Tabriz carpets, and its bustling atmosphere. It’s a place where one can easily get lost exploring its chambers for hours.
