Hi, I am kavin a fourth year under graduate architecture and regional planning student of B.Arch. (Hons.) studying at IIT Kharagpur.

I am curious about emerging technology and intrigued by the design of things around me and how it affects the human behavior. I admire art, life & nature. I hope to contribute to world of architecture and design through the lens of sustainability.

INTERESTS:

The first project from my third year was a group effeort. The centre would serve as a platform where common people would br acquainted with the reasons and effects of climate change and latest technical for diasaster prepardness. The center houses multiple seminal halls and galleriis. The galleries are equipped with latest media display techniques including VR and simulation rooms. I was mainly responsible for thr design the building elevations, galleries and exterior landscaping.

Climate change is basically caused by global warming and it disturbs the natural order of climatic phenomenon. Holding earth in hand symbolizes that we have taken responsibility to save our planet. To make visitors think about our responsibilities to planet earth and understand the importance of preserving our planet and overcome diesters.

Starting with vertically arranged pentagonal shaed galleries

Two other major spaces (i.e Seminar Halls and Admin Block) are arranged and oriented on the basis of Natural lighting requirement.

Further more level differences are created and spaces like research area and cafeteria are added on vertical levels.

The brief dictated us to design a resort residency for senior citizens that would take care of the age friendly criteria, climate and provide indoor comfortable conditions using the least of artificial means.

This is the first large scale project we designed in a group of five people. Since the project was for senior citizens, it involved a lot of planning in terms of unit placement, response to climate, barrier free design and materiality. I was mainly responsible for the site zoning, Land scaping and the design of individual resort units.

WORKING DRAWING

An apartment had to be designed with a group of 4 houses in each with stilt parking. The foundation layout, door window schedule, electrical layout, plumbing layout, kitchen and toilet details, section and elevation drawings where designed using Autodesk AutoCAD.

MISCELLANEOUS

Extracurricular are very important to increase productivity and enhance creativity. It always challenged me to solve problems smartly by my critical thinking ability which contributed indirectly to academics and personal life. Photography and graphic design always act as a medium to depict art, culture and stories. Photos not only capture the moment but the whole context around it. It can have multiple interpretations, each leading to creative thought, while illustrations are an abstract representation of opinions and views. Developing the illustration concept from an idea is an explorative process. For me an illustration should relate to people, making it more exciting and leading to a conversation.

Origami Form Generation, 1st year studio project

The challenge was to create an Origami form out of Paper using principles of folding techniques. One might notice that it is the parametric patterns creating a building form. This same model might look like a form developed from a V plates Grid and multiple v plates.

Game of light and shadow, 1st year studio project

The challenge was to create a form out of POP using principles of additional and subtraction. One might notice that it is the surfaces and voids that define any form. This same model might look like a sea sponge if punctured with a thousand dents.

Photography

Photos not only capture the moment but the whole context around it. It can have multiple interpretations, each leading to creative thought.

Sketching

Sketching helped me answer the question “ How would it look?”. I use Sketches to communicate ideas on my mind, demonstrate functionality, visualize user flow, and illustrate anything that requires interaction easily. Visual note-taking an effective way to enhance memory and make content more accessible.

Graphic Design | UI/UX, Intern

Redesigned the UI of the app and Website. All the designs are original and made from scratch to create brand identity. Illustrations are an abstract representation of opinions and views.
