BASIC DESIGN & ART STUDIO SEMESTER I Basic design, which is the foundation of architecture helped me in understanding the visual perception and the abstract forms of the objects. We were introduced to all the master architects and their works which moulded our thought process. Certain basic design projects were based on Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian. Projects like Addition & Subtraction of Volumes developed my sensitivity towards the spatial reltionships between the elements. On the whole, the Basic Design course helped me reason out every line, increasing the visual vocabulary beyond the terms ‘ I Like’ and ‘ I Dont Like’.

The underground rectangular AQUARIUMS on the either side improves the aesthetics of the place and acts as an observing element for the ones seated on the sofas. The aquarium and the planter box is blended forming an interesting nature-inspired space in the building.
INFO NODE SEMESTER II Location : Mylapore, Chennai Purpose : Information Centre for Tourists
MODEL
We were introduced to the field of designing the buildings with a 10m by 10m plot size. My building has a planter box which divides the spaces. This removed the need for the walls in this building, making it more spacious for the given area. The Info Node was a small project which helped me in understanding the profoundness of the space.
The glass panels on particular places of all sides of the building allows good amount of daylight for the building and helps in the growth of the plants. INTERIOR

INTERPRETATION CENTRE SEMESTER III Location : Champaner - Pavagadh, Gujurat Purpose : Musuem & Interpretation Centre Designing spaces like the musuem gave importance to the vastness of the space and the opportunity to make it interactive. The design was challenging as it had various components like the Open Air Theatre, Gallery Space, Archival Library which had to be designed individually according to their uses. Our site is located amongst the mountain ranges of Champaner which has a rich cultural heritage of its own as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The place has numerous Masjids, Forts, Gateways, Shrines which were of prime importance building on to the heritage.
Key Ideologies Used
Combination of pure Geometry Use of natural light Light / Shadow / Form - relation Context based evolution
Evolution Of The Plan
Rectangular plot Road
The Site
The 3 main parts in Champaner are Champaner ( foothill ), Pavagadh ( hill ) and the Maachi ( plateau ). The basic idea of my design was to CONNECT these three parts of the place with the Geometric Shapes. The 3 important spaces of the design are the OAT, Archival LIbrary and the Gallery. I have represented these in the ends of the connecting triangle with large 3D circulation paths. This creates a centralized axis of purpose. Archival Library (Champaner) OAT (Pavagadh) The Triangle represents the Kalimatha temple (feminism) which is on top of the hill giving rich cultural value to the place and the major purpose of visit, thus the AXIS OF PURPOSE.

Open Air Theatre : The OAT is placed in a position where it wont get sunny as on one side there is the building and the other side the bumps on the land blocks the sunlight to some extent. It is a four - step seater in a semi circular shape. Various performances happen which can be viewed even through the glass wall in the first floor situtaed above the OAT.
Gallery Space : The displays of various models, art work, artifacts are kept here which requires good amount of natural light during the day and artificial ones during the night. The space is confined by a circular wall which makes the circulation of the area comforable for viewing the displays.
ELEVATION
Long glass windows were used to let the sunlight inside building , giving scenic views of the sunset and the sunris It connects with the island and the feel of the water can enjoyed.
PLANS Tennis Court
The plan of the building is combination of rectangular shapes which gives rise to the elongated structure of the house. It is designed is such manner that all the bedrooms have the view of the backwaters. Drawing room

CELEBRITY ABODE

SEMESTER III Location : Edierthittu Island, Tamil Nadu Purpose : Abode for Shah Rukh Khan & Family A thorough character study of Shah Rukh Khan and his family members were done and space according to their needs were created. Designing this weekend abode helped me understand the requirements of the clients and deisign accordingly. As our site is an Island, it gave us many options to explore and get creative with our designs. The water body could also be used as the prime relaxing spot. The building’s construction is harmonized with the character of the region in which it belongs and aims at the creation of a resort of special requirements that was addressed in high standards . It provides a luxury holiday living individually designed each one to have their own unique living space with the emphasis being both in indoor and on outdoor entertaining, dining and relaxing spaces.

TRAINING & COMMUNITY CENTRE SEMESTER IV Location : Periyathaazhai ,Tamil Nadu Purpose : Training and community space for the localites
FIRST FLOOR
GROUND FLOOR
Our site is in the rural area of the fishermen community. In this design we did a documentation of the village and came up with a solution to their problems which was a community centre. The building was designed to benefit the needs of the locals , helping them in their day-to-day life activites. This also became the rural retreat for the outsiders. The scheme intends to express the union of the current fragmentation of buildings that exist on the site and present a strong, identifiable community hub.

RECEPTION AREA WITH JAALI WALLS
ELEVATION Certain walls in the building are JAALI walls which allow light inside enhancing the aesthetics of the space. The building has the qualities of the vernacular architecture of that place. Lots of semi open spaces in the building creates a very lively atmosphere. The value of the place is unharmed and preserved.
RURALS SEMESTER IV Location : Periyathaazhai , Triunelveli, Tamil Nadu The main activity in the village is Fishing as its located on the seashore. The place has a historical cultural background. Three major churches are the important buildings in the village. After the Tsunami, many houses were washed away therefore the Govt built colonies like the CASA 1 & 2. The typologies in both the colonies differed as they were not built at the same time.
