Registration Information

2024 Day Camp registration will begin Tuesday, April 16 at 9am through our Kawartha Lakes Online Program Registration website. In order to register, you must have an account for our online Program Registration website. To get started, simply hit the ‘Signup’ button at the top of the landing page and fill in the required fields.

Payment is due at the time of registration. Once registration is confirmed, any changes or cancellations are subject to our Cancellation Policy. For more information on camp policies, visit our Camps webpage.

Fee Assistance

Camper Forms

The City of Kawartha Lakes is proud to offer a variety of camp programs for children in Kawartha Lakes and the surrounding areas. Financial assistance is available for Kawartha Lakes residents wishing to access camps.

If you require alternate payment arrangements, contact us prior to registering by email at recreation@ kawarthalakes.ca or by phone at 705-324-9411 extension 1307.

During registration, you will be required to complete the Emergency Contact and Consent form. All additional forms must be completed prior to attending camp. Alternate formats of these documents are available upon request. Contact recreation@kawarthalakes.ca or call 705-324-9411 extension 1307 for further information.

• If your camper has an EpiPen, caregivers are required to fill out the Consent for Assistance in Administering an EpiPen form.

• If your camper will need to take medication while at camp, caregivers are required to fill out the Camp Medical Administration Request form.

Waitlist and Cancellation Policy

Register early to secure your first choice camps! Our programs do have a limited registration capacity. Once registration is full, any additional registrants will be placed on the waiting list for their preferred program. Individuals will be contacted following the chronological order of the waitlist, should a spot become available. Payment is not required to secure a waitlist spot. If you are already registered for an alternative camp and wish to transfer to the now available camp, you may do so at no additional charge.

The Parks and Recreation Division reserves the right to cancel programs due to insufficient registration. In these cases, a full credit or refund will be issued. If a camp is cancelled, staff will contact participants and offer options for a different program (where space is available). Refunds and credits for any other reason are subject to approval and an administration fee of 15% (minimum of $5). Refunds will not be issued in circumstances of illness, no-shows, or last minute cancellations. All refund requests must be made in writing and sent to recreation@kawarthalakes.ca

Preparing For Day Camp

Please reference the checklist below to help prepare for camp!

What to Bring

Campers are encouraged to bring the following with them to Camp each day:

• Nut free lunch and snacks for two nutrition breaks

• Reusable water bottle

• Closed-toe shoes (no Crocs)

• Hat

• Sunscreen

• Bug spray

• Towel and slide shoes

• Swimsuit

• Extra set of clothes (shirt, pants, underwear, socks)

• Weather-appropriate clothing

What Not to Bring

The following items are discouraged and will not be permitted at Camp:

• Toys

• Electronics (phones/video games)

• Personal valuables

• Peanut products or food that is not identified as peanut free

• Weapons

• Lighters

Hours of Operation

Summer Day Camps will run on a weekly basis from July 2 to August 23. Programs will operate Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Camps will not operate on statutory holidays (Monday, July 1 and Monday, August 5).

Pick Up and Drop Off

To ensure camper safety, caregivers are required to sign campers in and out each day. Governmentissued photo identification must be presented, at the time of pick-up, for campers to be released. Please ensure that all individuals permitted to pick up your camper(s) are included as an Emergency Contact and/or Person(s) Permitted to Pick Up. Individuals who

Extended Care

Extended supervision will be available in the mornings starting at 8am, and in the evenings until 5pm. There is no additional cost for extended care services. If you wish to register for extended care, be sure to indicate this at the time of registration.

Camp Communication

Be sure to check your email inbox regularly, as all camp communications will be sent by email. Communications will be sent to the email address that is associated with your online Program Registration account.

Weekly newsletters will be sent to caregivers on the Wednesday (by end of day) of the week prior to your camper’s week at camp. This will include information regarding daily schedules, weekly theme, and other important information to help you prepare for camp. If you do not receive an email, please be sure to check your junk/spam folder and do not hesitate in contacting us at recreation@kawarthalakes.ca

Camp Policies

The City of Kawartha Lakes is committed to providing safe, inclusive, and quality programs. To foster a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers, staff, camper leaders, and volunteers uphold the highest standards in regards to appropriate behaviour while at camp. All campers and staff are expected to do their part by showing respect for all people and property while attending City of Kawartha Lakes camps. Please report any incidents

or concerns to staff. For further information regarding our Behaviour Code of Conduct and/or Bullying policy, visit our Camps webpage.

Lunch and Snacks

Campers are required to bring their own litter-less lunch and snacks to camp each day. There will be two nutritional breaks, in addition to a lunch period. Snacks and/or meals will not be provided during camp programming, with the exception of our Pizza Lunch program – see the advertisement to the right for more information.

• All camps are nut-free. Peanut butter, nuts, tree nuts, and/or any food that contains nuts are not permitted.

• Refrain from sending food that needs to be refrigerated or heated.

• Food will not be shared or traded amongst camp participants.

Program Feedback

We welcome all program feedback, as your valuable insight helps to continually improve the summer camp experience for our participants. Caregivers will receive an opportunity to provide feedback based on their camper’s experience at camp in an end-of-year survey.

Friday PizzaDay

Happy Friday!

We will be offering pizza lunches every Friday of each week for all campers.

$5 for each order will include an individual-sized pizza (8 inch crust) from Boston Pizza.

Orders will be accepted until 5pm on the Wednesday prior to your child’s Friday Pizza Lunch. To learn more and to register, please visit our Kawartha Lakes Online Program Registration website.

Inclusion Support Program

Returning this summer, the Parks and Recreation Division is proud to be offering our Inclusion Support program, intended to foster accessible and inclusive opportunities for participants of all abilities. This program may be suitable for your camper if they:

• Receive support at school.

• Engage in behaviours that could affect the safety of themselves or others.

• Are associated with a support agency.

Please note that participants who may require assistance with toileting or continence-related needs will be asked to attend with an external support worker/ caregiver to assist with these needs.

Requesting Inclusion Support

One-on-one inclusion support is available for our weekly day camps (Lindsay Littles, Kawartha Kids, Lakeside Legends). It must be noted

that applicants will be eligible to receive support for a maximum of two weeks. This will ensure that all applicants have the opportunity to participate in the program.

Applicants must register in the Inclusion Support course for the week of their choosing – registering in this course is the only method to ensure the request for inclusion support is received. Our Program Coordinator will confirm if the request for support has been fulfilled. Requests are processed in the order they are received, and based on the availability of inclusion staff.

External Support Workers

Participants are welcome to provide their own support staff while attending camp. External support workers are welcome to attend all camp programs (including our weekly day camps and our specialty camps). Families with external support workers are required to complete the Outside Support Worker Release form prior to attending the program.

All external support workers must submit a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (issued within the last six months) and provide proof of a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, prior to attending the program. The municipality may request personal information from the support worker, in the case of emergency.

Weekly Day Camps

Lindsay Littles

5 to 6 years of age

This camp will introduce younger campers to the summer camp experience, while participating in ageappropriate activities. Junior campers will participate in a week of fun activities, active and passive games, themed crafts, outdoor fun, and more! This camp will have the opportunity to swim three times a week.

Kawartha Kids

7 to 12 years of age

This camp will provide campers with the authentic summer camp experience. Campers will participate in a week of fun-filled activities, several themed crafts, active and passive games, outdoor fun, and more! Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to take part in a themed workshop/event. This camp will swim daily.

Lakeside Legends

7 to 12 years of age

This camp will keep campers active and having fun all week long! Campers will participate in active games, fun activities and a daily swim. Focusing on teamwork and friendship, campers will have the opportunity to participate in team-based games, outdoor activities, and more!

Specialty Day Camps

Swim Lesson Camp

8 to 12 years of age

This camp offers an opportunity to participate in daily swimming lessons, in addition to all the fun of summer camp! Campers will participate in a week of fun activities, active and passive games, themed crafts, outdoor fun, and more. In addition to the morning swim lesson, campers will join the afternoon camp fun swim.

Campers are required to provide previous swimming progress information at the time of registration. Please note that achieving a swim level is dependent on the child, and participation in Swim Lesson Camp does not guarantee the successful completion of a level. It is advised that attending both weeks of Swim Lesson Camp may improve the likelihood of successful completion.

Kawartha Eco-Explorers

8 to 12 years of age

Back this summer, campers will participate in a variety of activities that focus their attention on the environment and their relationship with the world around them. Campers will participate in nature-centred programming, such as plant/animal identification, land cultivation and conservation, and more! This camp will keep campers busy with a range of fun activities, active and passive games, themed crafts, outdoor fun, and recreational swimming.

Underwater Universe

8 to 12 years of age

Does your camper love the water? In addition to the daily camp fun swim, campers will have an hour of pool time each day where they can try unique and exciting water activities, like water polo, underwater hockey, introduction to scuba diving and more! On land, campers will participate in a variety of active and passive games, fun activities, themed crafts, and outdoor fun.

Please note that campers must have completed Kawartha Swimmer 4 or equivalent to be eligible for this program. This is intended to ensure all campers are able to fully participate in all the activities this camp has to offer!

August 6 to August 9

H2O Heroes

8 to 12 years of age

New! Calling all future lifeguards! This camp offers the opportunity to complete their Bronze Star certification, mixed in with all the fun of our general camps. Campers will receive swim instruction twice each day, to develop and refine their swimming ability, lifesaving skills, and personal fitness. Campers will also participate in Basic First Aid training and learn how to contact emergency services, rescue breathing, how to treat minor injuries, and more. This camp will keep campers busy with these exciting leadership training opportunities, along with days filled with fun activities, active games, themed crafts and more!

To attain these certifications, campers will be required to successfully complete the respective certification exams. Participation in this camp does not guarantee successful completion, and is dependent on the child. Please note that campers must have completed Kawartha Swimmer 4 or equivalent to be eligible for this program. This program is highly recommended for those who have completed the Kawartha Swim programming.
