Mr & Mrs Thorogood came to KAW asking us to provide them with a curvaceous design, as well as that all important ‘wow’ factor. It was then up to us to provide them with their dream kitchen. Right in the centre of the kitchen was a column, which needed to be disguised. The back wall also had a column, although we were able to remove this one. When planning the kitchen, we were taking into account the importance of incorporating a curvaceous luxury design, but making sure that it would work ergonomically within the limited space and around these obtrusive columns. The special concept behind this particular project is the work done by us before the actual kitchen fit. The back column was removed, and the back wall was studded so we could install the hob and cooker. Innovatively, we used the illusion of mirrors to make it appear that the central column wasn’t actually there, bouncing the natural light and radiance into all areas of the kitchen. Of course, all of the little details are important. We created a special two-colour scheme; a strong vibrant colour on the walls along with an off-grey palette to enhance the beautiful, speciallysourced granite.

This helped bring the dining area of the kitchen into the equation, including it in the stunning design. The American Style Fridge Freezer is located within this dining area, utilising even more of the space available. Before, there was a radiator and an access cupboard for getting under the stairs in this area. Utilising this space has helped create maximum storage facilities for Mr & Mrs Thorogood, without piling too many units into the kitchen. Finally - on to the appliances. Practical demonstrations at the KAW showroom of Neff appliances eventually convinced the customers to opt for the full range. To begin with, Mr & Mrs Thorogood wanted to keep their original appliances, but were easily convinced when shown the quality and build of Neff products.
Project Thorogood
The kitchen is a combination of practicality and innovative design. The gorgeous units and worktops are compliments beautifully by the range of Neff products, and the centrally-placed mirror only helps enhance the glorious, homely feel of this radiant kitchen.

KAW CGI Proposal
Mr & Mrs Burtoft travelled specifically one hour to visit our KAW showroom. From the outset, they were keen on appointing a company who could complete the construction side of the job, as well as being able to deliver practical demonstrations of their appliances. The design was both thorough and elegant. Mr & Mrs Burtoft were after a curvaceous minimalist design; however it needed to comply to both traditional and contemporary elements of the room once the building work had been completed. We knew the biggest challenge would be combining the contemporary elements with the traditional aspect of the kitchen. Although we didn’t do the actual extension, we were told to complete the cladding. We also had to prepare the room for the new install by levelling the floor of the extension to match up with the rest of the room. Mr & Mrs Burtoft also made the request for a dining area, wanting this to be specifically part of the actual kitchen design.

This is what we gave them. Central to the design is a luxurious island with a dropped breakfast bar. Their appliances, including a Neff Induction Hob, were chosen because of demonstrations of the working products within the KAW showroom.

The two-tone colour scheme of cream and cappuccino, with the brown CeasarStone worktop compliments the high oak beams perfectly, and allows that particular mix of traditional and contemporary elements to combine and interlace perfectly. The inclusion of underfloor heating and slim-line heaters removed the need for radiators, which would have simply spoiled the minimalist aspect of the kitchen. Combining the oak beams with high-gloss units in this particular kitchen has proved to be a major success. The customer has plenty of storage within their gorgeous new kitchen, yet they have maintained the minimalist elements of their original requirements. The dropped breakfast bar brings a whole new level of functionality to this stunning, resourceful kitchen.

What Mr & Mrs Bray ended up with was a stunning new kitchen, with a completely new layout. The construction combined with their design meant that we could provide them with the one thing they particularly wanted – a well-lit, beautiful kitchen and dining area, for the whole family to enjoy.

Mr Bown immediately stated, upon arriving at the showroom, his love of our high gloss units. From this, he had decided that he wanted us to design him an ultra-modern black kitchen, with a specific appliance bank on the far wall. Opposite the appliance bank, Mr Bown stipulated the need for a multi-level island, incorporating cooking and preparation with the desire to have an eating area at the other end. All of this, yet the customer wanted to keep the kitchen spacious. Mr Bown presented us with a ÂŁ10,000 budget, but stated his willingness to increase depending on the actual specifics of the kitchen.
14
The final product. We had given Mr Bown his dream kitchen. The multiple work surfaces (stainless steel and EggerBoard) show the functionality and practicality of the island. Adjacent to the hob and the sink is the breakfast bar, which actually has storage included underneath. This keeps the number of units in the kitchen down, and keeps the minimalist look alive. The bank of Neff appliances look beautiful sat in the middle of the high-gloss black units. They become the primary feature of the kitchen.

It wasn’t a straightforward job. Being a barn conversion, we had to deal with particularly low ceilings. This meant that the hood had to be chosen specifically, to still allow it to ventilate, as well as making sure it doesn’t look out of place.

What Mr Bown ended up with was of stunning proportion. For a remarkably low price, we had installed a cutting-edge, high quality kitchen to match his original requirements. Utilising the space whilst incorporating so many elements and levels, we had given Mr Bown a truly astonishing kitchen with all the storage he could ever want – without sacrificing the minimalistic design.

Mr & Mrs Ford visited our showroom after being recommended by our above customer, Chris Bown. Initially, they detailed their wish of a modern kitchen, incorporating a wide range of textures and colours. We also had to undertake quite a lot of building work. Before the install, there was a small kitchen, a small utility and a small dining room. By taking out the two main walls, we were left with a lot of space to design a kitchen that Mr & Mrs Ford would be extremely proud of. Again, importantly for this customer was the incorporation of an appliance bank. The kitchen itself has been designed in two linear lines – the Neff appliance bank, and the sink/hob run. Finished in our Coco Bolo range, the kitchen has an ultra-modern feel about it. Importantly, Mr & Mrs Ford chose a lot of Neff appliances, and one of the problems was fitting all of them in both sides of the run without compromising on space. The linear run of both sides of the kitchen compliments the natural grain found in the Coco-Bolo range. It really does give this kitchen a cutting-edge look and feel.

As with all our kitchens, the choice of colour is never underestimated. The linear grains of the Coco Bolo and the use of off-white high gloss doors complimented each other elegantly, whilst the dark brown Encore worktop brought the two together. The use of a specialist Neff extractor adds a particularly stunning feature to the hob/sink run of units, standing out remarkably against the white walls. We incorporated designer lighting, whilst choosing Encore as a cheaper alternative to Corian, to stay within the customer’s budget – whilst not compromising on both visual and practical needs. For a £15,000 budget, they have managed to get a superior, ultra-modern kitchen with top-of-the-range Neff appliances. The Coco-Bolo range combined with the high gloss doors and the stainless steel signature of Neff appliances provide many focal points for viewers of this outstanding, luxurious kitchen. It truly is a work of art, whilst being an unbelievably practical and lavish area of the home.
