GAD Advocacy Program for the Community Members Conducted Community Immersion con Orientation on Gender Fair Family Relation at Gawad Kalinga Site in Tanay, Rizal participated by 44 mothers, 11 fathers and 28 youth, initiated by the students of URS Pililla.


Conducted Lecture on the History of Women’s Month Celebration and the concept of CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women) to the LGU officials and women’s groups/ organizations in Tanay, Rizal.

Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives


Vision CALABARZON GAD Resource Center is for global empowerment on gender equity and equality towards sustainable development of a gender responsive society.


Mission The Center is committed to institutionalize the capacity of every sector in the region towards mainstreaming gender concerns through training and development, policy, linkages, research and extension, monitoring and evaluation.


Goals Gender responsiveness, equity and equality. Access point and repository of GAD data and information. Efficiency and effectiveness of gender mainstreaming.


Objectives 1. To serve as repository of GAD-related materials such as advocacy and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials, publication and tools, multimedia, gender statistics, research studies, and directory of GAD experts.

2.

To serve as venue for regular/special meetings of concerned regional, provincial, SUC’s, Line agencies, LGU’s, GAD Committee and other GO’s/ NGO’s.

3.

To provide technical assistance to government. NGO’s,/PO’s, SUC’s and LGU’s towards developing their capabilities for GAD mainstreaming.


Objectives 4.

To develop and continually support the capacities of trainers, resource persons, advocates and service provider on GAD, also design and implement client-responsive GAD training.

5.

To conduct GAD related researches and mapping of existing and showcasing new initiatives on GAD.

6.

To coordinate the planning and implementation of integrated regional GAD related programs and activities in academic, research, extension, monitoring, implementation and evaluation, policy, advocacy, linkages, training and development programs.


GAD Policy and Mandate


Orientation on GAD Mainstreaming and the Role of the GAD Resource Center

Invited speakers from NCRFW and it was participated by the URS GAD Committee


GAD Organization in the University of Rizal System In the year 2005 the University created GAD Committee by Campus as major step for gender mainstreaming. The committees are participated in by both teaching and nonteaching personnel . Duties and function of the committees were clearly defined to them through memorandum.

Cross Visit to Region VI Heritage Tour Around Iloilo City After the tours at Rosendo Mejica’s Old House, Plaza Libertad, Muelle Loney, Calle Real, Jaro Old House, Magdalena Jalandoni’s House and Jaro Cathedral, the GAD Benchmarking Team CALABARZON (17 female and 6 male representatives from RLAs, SUCs, LGUs, NGOs) proceeded to Museo Iloilo where its history, culture and artworks are showcased.


Cross Visit to Region VI Iloilo The GAD Benchmarking Team from CALABARZON made a courtesy call to Hon. Gov. Neil Tupas, Sr. at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol where he shared his past experiences as the father of the province and how they mainstream gender concerns in their annual plans and programs.


Cross Visit to Region VI Antique The GAD Benchmarking Team from CALABARZON also made a courtesy call to Hon. Gov. Salvacion Perez of Antique, the Inter-Agency Committee in the province shared their programs and special projects to promote gender sensitive community organized in the local government units.


Cross Visit to Region VII - Cebu The GAD Committee of URS coordinated and facilitated the study visit of the member agencies of CALABARZON GRC (33 representatives from RLAs, SUCs, LGUs and NGOs) to Region VII at Sidlak GRC - UP Cebu, Lihok Filipina Foundation, LAW Center Inc., Women and Family Affairs Commission, City Mayor’s Office, Governor’s Office and other Provincial Line Agencies.


Capability Building Activities


GAD Related Trainings Conducted Gender Sensitivity Training for the URS GAD Committee, participated by 29 female and 7 male selected faculty members and staff from 10 campuses.


GAD Related Trainings Conducted Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) for Men participated by 36 male representatives of Local Government Units (LGUs) and Educational Institutions from Rizal Province.


GAD Related Seminars and Trainings Attended Attended Seminar Workshop on Rights-Based and Gender-Responsive Tertiary Education at the UP Center for Women’s Studies, Diliman Quezon City.


Seminar-Workshop on Curriculum Review Conducted SeminarWorkshop on Mainstreaming Gender and Development Concepts in College Curricula at URS Morong campus, participated by 32 female and 5 male selected faculty members and students from URS Campuses.


GAD Related Seminars and Trainings Attended 2 Male GAD Committee Members from URS Morong and Antipolo participated in the Seminar on Men and Masculinity held at Rembrandt Hotel, Quezon City, initiated by MOVE (Men Opposed to VAW Everywhere) Philippines Inc.


International GAD Seminar Attended 2 GAD Committee Chairs from URS Binangonan and Antipolo participated in the South East Asia Conference on Women and Peace at Philippine Normal University (PNU), Manila


International GAD Training Attended The GAD Program Coordinator of URS participated in the Training Program on Equal Status and Human Rights of Women in South East Asia in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia sponsored by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).


First Higher Education Summit on Gender Issues October 11-12, 2011 The OIC, Office of the University President and 2 representatives from URS participated in the GAD Summit and Exhibit of GAD Programs, Projects and Initiatives held at Ang Bahay ng Alumni, U.P. Diliman, Quezon City.


2011 GAD Focal Point System Assembly October 19-21, 2011 1 representative from URS participated in the 2011 GAD Focal Point System Assembly held at Hotel Kimberly, Tagaytay City.


Regional Summit on GAD December 1, 2011 2 representatives from URS participated in the Regional GAD Summit and Exhibit of GAD Programs, Projects and Women’s Products held at Batangas State University, GPB Campus 1, Batangas City.


Luzon Conference on Women, the Environment and Climate Change December 8-10, 2011 2 representatives from URS participated in the Luzon Conference on Women, the Environment and Climate Change initiated by Pangasinan State University, held at President Hotel, Lingayen Pangasinan.


Capacity Building Activities


GAD Orientation to Government Agencies in CALABARZON Conducted the Gender Sensitivity Training (GST) participated by the GAD Focal Points (10 female and 4 male heads and staff) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) IV-A, as part of their Seminar-Workshop on GAD Mainstreaming, Planning and Budgeting discussed by the staff from the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (now PCW) held in Calamba City, Laguna.


GAD Orientation to Government Agencies in CALABARZON Conducted Orientation on Gender Equality at Splash Mountain Resort, Los Banos, Laguna participated by 254 female and 76 male Barangay Health Workers from CALABARZON and initiated by the Center for Health Development – Department of Health, Region IV-A.


GAD Orientation to Government Agencies in CALABARZON Conducted lecture forum on Gender and Development, How to Promote GenderResponsive Governance, Anti-Sexual Harassment Law and Gender-Fair Language, paticipated by 64 female and 26 male heads and staff from the Department of Agrarian Reform, IV-A in Mandaluyong City.


GAD Orientation to Government Agencies in CALABARZON May 11, 2011 Conducted Orientation on the Roles and Responsibilities of Women’s Desk Officers and Magna Carta of Women participated by 21 female and 3 male representatives from the Department of Agrarian Reform – Quezon II held in Gumaca Quezon


The 1st CALABARZON GAD Convention April 27, 2011 Presented the concept of “Preparing GAD Plan and Budget in the Academe,” as one of the topics during the First CALABARZON GAD Convention in Tagaytay City, initiated by NEDA and participated by 82 women and 17 men representatives from different RLAs, LGUs, SUCs, NG/POs.


GAD Orientation to Local Government Units 118 Women leaders and LGU representatives from the 4th district of Batangas visited the CALABARZON GAD Resource Center housed in URS Morong. They were given orientation on GAD, Gender Issues and Facing the Gender Challenges, Evolution of Gender Paradigm and Gender Milestones, Making LGUs Gender-Responsive, Gender-Fair Language and the Best Practices of URS on GAD mainstreaming.

GAD Orientation to Local Government Units July 15, 2011 Conducted Orientation on How to Prepare GAD Plan and Budget in the Academe, participated by 87 female and 18 male GAD Focal Points and Council Members from the LGUs in Batangas, initiated by the Provincial Government and ALSWDOPI .


GAD Orientation to Learning Institutions May 3, 2011 Conducted Gender Awareness and Sensitivity Orientation participated by the 35 female and 17 male faculty members from Morong National High School held at Momarco Resort, Tanay, Rizal


GAD Orientation to Learning Institutions July 16, 2011 Conducted Orientation on Gender and Development and How to Promote Gender-Fair Education to 76 female and 27 male faculty members from Tanay National High School held at J.E. Camp Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.


GAD Orientation to Learning Institutions August 13, 2011 Conducted Orientation on Gender and Development, and How to Promote Gender-Fair Education to 46 female and 12 male faculty members from Sampaloc National High School held at J.E. Camp Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal.


GAD Advocacy Program Women’s Month Celebration March 8, 2011 Conducted Lecture Forum on Education, Gender Equality and Women Empowerment participated by 187 female and 22 male particants from different organizations in Taal Batangas.


GAD Advocacy Program Women’s Month Celebration March 23, 2011 Conducted Lecture Forum on Gender Sensitivity, Anti-Sexual Harassment Law and the Use of Gender Fair Language to 326 female and 68 male participants during the Women’s Month Celebration of the Southern Tagalog Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (STARRDEC) at Cavite State University in Indang Cavite.


GAD Advocacy Program World Teachers’ Day Celebration October 7, 2011 Commemorate the World Teachers’ Day 2011 and conducted Lecture Fora on Gender Equality and Gender Sensitivity in Educational Institutional, Gender Fair Language and Teacher for Gender Equality, participated by 466 female and 223 male faculty members and students from different URS Campuses held in URS Morong Campus.


GAD Orientation to Vicente Madrigal National High School

October 26, 2011 Conducted Orientation on Gender and Development, and How to Promote Gender-Fair Education to 55 female and 16 male faculty members from Vicente Madrigal National High School held at their Audio Visual Room.


GAD Seminar to LTO IV-A

November 12, 2011 Conducted GAD Seminar to 88 female and 23 male provincial and district heads, employees and staff from Cavite and Quezon held at Luntian Resort and Restaurant, Brgy. San Sebastian, Lipa City.


Seminar-Workshop on GAD, GAD Planning and Budgeting to LGU of Naic, Cavite November 16, 2011 Conducted GAD Seminar – Workshop on GAD Concepts, Planning and Budgeting participated by 27 female and 8 male LCEs and Heads of LGU Naic, Cavite at Emiramona Garden Hotel, Tagaytay City.


GAD Seminar to LTO IV-A November 19 & 26, 2011 Conducted GAD Seminar to 168 female and 103 male provincial and district heads, employees and staff from Rizal, Laguna and Batangas held at Events Center, Brgy. Sico, Lipa City.
