introduction
There is a real intention to build Russian church and extend it to community centre in Umea (Sweden). The aim of community is to build an image of Russia for swedes, tourists and themselves. So “how to represent Russian culture abroad became a basic question for my thesis. I went through history, typology, modern analogies, etc. to support my design.
6
Looking back to all this themes which were touched to make my design steps deliberate, I see that practically it was done to educate intuition through visual experience. Many of decisions found through experiments fit better in the concept then considered actions based only on theory.

Position in the city The project is located on the upper part of Ă–n-island. It is a peaceful and quiet place, at the same time site is visible from the whole city. New church has visual connection with central church of UmeĂĽ. So it is possible to speak about an old Russian tradition to see one church from another. This dialogue between two urban artefacts is associated with dialogue between two cultures.

During the Masters we participated in several workshops, which include: structure, wood, light and energy.
Construction
workshop
Tutor Friz King Duration 1 week In collaboration with Jenya Khvan. The workshop involved the study of new structural proposals for big buildings, such as a skyscraper, a stadium and an airport, resulting the construction of large scale models, tested for their stability. The main aim was to find a ballance between the vertical and horisontal elements of the airport. Our V-shape structure devides the waight between the tower and main hall tent.

Wooden structures Tutors: Ehrling Degermark, Walter Unterrainer Duration 1 week In collaboration with Jenya Khvan, Pasha Rueda.
kaydanovskaya.a@gmail.com
We developed a wooden bridge with 5 meter span, only using 3cm x 5cm x 250cm wooden pieces and no nail, screw or glue allowed, and supported a person crossing through. All the fixings were geometrically solved and reinforced with 6 mm diameter wooden bars. These was an incredible experience to test the material qualities, and pushing its characteristics to the limit, allowing to build the structure with the least of material possible.

Site plan The museum is an extention of the existing museum of architecture in the centre of Moscow. There are plenty of drawings and old photos of architectural masterpieces, that does not exist any more. This pieces should be seen from close distance and hidden from sunlight. The first step was to grow a shape from the site. I got mold as a result. This is the only substance that can naturally grow on this place. So my proposal was to make the museum without a phisical building.
Exhibition
Site model (plywood, plexiglass)
The museum is a graveyard and a public square at the same time. Visitor comes to the glass box and plunges into history of architecture. Orientation of this hypostyle openair complex conforms a demolished church, which foundation is still underground. The museum can be constantly extended, that means as soon as an architect becomes history, a new “grave is digging for him/her.

| community centre Site plan This is a typology from USSR times, which does not exist any more. Program is similar to community centre, that is not popular in Russia so far. The project is located in the centre of Moscow, on a small island in the park. The spatial openair labirinth brings visitor to the entrance, that goes underground. The long way down and up ends with a foyer, overhanging above the small lake.

house for Barak Obama In collaboration with Denis Brezhnev, Setha Leakhena.
presentation: Photoshop, Sketch up, Archicad, 3ds max.
Our projecr is located partly inside the existing White house in Washington. The black glass volume goes through the sliping zone of the house and extends it by two long balconies. New villa contains all basic functions: such as bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room. So Barak Obama can have his private apartment inside the house for mr. president’s family.

home church for steve jobs In collaboration with Denis Brezhnev
presentation: Photoshop, Sketch up, Archicad, 3ds max.
Steve Jobs became one of the key persons in the modern society. He is not only a head of corporation, but a medium between virtual and real worlds. He established Apple religion and became a priest for the people. So his private villa can be a church. Altar is  Steve Jobs’s meditation room, lit by natural light with apple tree in the centre. The light goes from this room through the applelogo-shaped door to the completely dark auditorium for Apple presentations-sermons.
