Idris Elba has addressed controversial comments made about him by new James Bond author, Anthony Horowitz. Horowitz said that London-born Elba was “too street” to play the iconic British spy. Horowitz stated, that 42-year-old Idris is “a bit too rough to play the part” adding, “It’s not a color issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond.” The author later apologised for his words, clarifying, “Clumsily, I chose the word ‘street,’ as Elba’s gritty portrayal of DCI John !PO OCS YTIRBELEC YLIAD ROF Luther was in my mind, but I admit it was a poor choice of word. I am mortified to have caused offense.”

Elba, however, seemed to take the whole matter with a wry smile, as he took to Instagram to state, “Always keep smiling! It takes no energy and never hurts!” He cheekily added, “Learned that from the Street.”
