In this book, you will find a collection of work that I have produced since the beginning of my academic career. I love travel and enjoy exploring nature of different areas. C.R.E.A.M. Center This project, a creative exploration of music and its relationship to the built environment, required a process that involved analyzing an assigned album and reacting to it architecturally. By listening to the lyrics of the music, students interpreted the messages the artist expressed through the songs. Some lyrics reflected observations of the environment the artists knew. Students then developed programmatic responses to the lyrical analysis. The new approach to design set a framework for students to understand the client and their needs on a deeper level. The album for this project, C.R.E.A.M. Collective, is Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). The album by the Wu-Tang Clan, one of the most inspirational hip hop collectives, stand for social justice through empowering yourself with religious awakening and strength of community.

C.R.E.A.M. Collective - Project Objective The Wu-Tang Clan was a “revolutionary force in hip hop” with long-lasting effects that inspire artists to this day. Their unique sound and break from the norm gave them a legendary status early on. Their debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) released in 1993 exposed the realities of poverty and violence that resulted from political events occurring in New York in the late 1900s. The album is sample-heavy featuring music from many eras and genres in addition to clips from kung fu movies. They successfully bring together many art forms while sharing lessons from many religious groups. The work of the Wu-Tang Clan also exposed the greed and oppression that exists today. The group emphasize the value of having a community of support and the importance of action to make changes.

C.R.E.A.M. Collective - Lyrical Analysis The lyrical analysis led to a deeper understanding of the messages within the songs and the stories that were told on the album. Each member revealed the things they stand for and how they perceive the world as well as their inspirations. Many of the songs feature samples from classic kung fu movies and references to lessons from the five percent- nation. The textile below is a visual representation of Inspectah Deck’s verse in the song C.R.E.A.M., one of the most famous songs from the album. The acronym created by Raekwon means “cash rules everything around me” which recognizes the need for money to get out of tough situations. The song also teaches that money is not as important as inner strength and lifting up those around you.

C.R.E.A.M. Collective - Design Details The martial arts films inspired the Wu-Tang Clan’s music and aliases. The dynamic forms inspired the design of the Dojo at the C.R.E.A.M. Collective, signif ying that the space is different from the other parts of the building. Each section has a style that differs depending on the activities taking place inside.

Forest Sounds Music Cabin - Project Objective Tucked away in the Catskills region of New York is the site of a cabin designed for inspiration and discovery. One goal for the project included exploring the relationship between site, structure, and what it meant to be a cohabitant with nature. The studio aimed to outline the tension and balance between nature and culture.

The site is located on Church Farm Rd. in Gardiner, NY. near the Mohonk Mountains.

Forest Sounds Music Cabin - Conceptual Design The client for the cabin is a musician who has requested that her cabin be intertwined with music. This was accomplished by utilizing the nine-square grid and the proportions known to be harmonious in music. The structure is organized around the original nine-square grid and the 1/5 and 1/7 scales added helped to organize the enclosure and interior walls. The main circulation takes place in the negative space in between the intervals, created when all three scales were layered.

Forest Sounds Music Cabin - Design Development The client, who is a multi-instrumentalist, required a program to fit her lifestyle. visual connection for sharing and feedback between members of the band or guests is incorporated so that the musicians can collaborate at all times, even when doing mundane activities. Practicing, playing and listening to music in all rooms allows artists to engage in creativity anytime inspiration strikes.

M.O.D.A. - Project Objective In the course architectural design IV, students worked on an infill - museum project in the heart of downtown Detroit. As a response to the site being a lively and actively changing area, the theme of displaying art digitally developed and created M. O. D. A. Digital art has changed how people view and interact with art and museums. It can also reach a large audience creating the opportunity for positive change. Since Capitol Park is such a historically relevant part of Detroit, the goals of the design included fitting into the context while standing out as a beacon for positive change, which has been taking place in the Capitol Park area.

Idea & Concept Museum type that engages visitors in new ways while connecting to the site, Capitol Park. The above timeline shows some of the history and transformation of this part of Detroit in the past few decades. Today, Capitol park is a thriving area that attracts a lot of pedestrian traffic.

M.O.D.A. - Process Work Located near downtown Detroit, the design emphasizes connecting back to the site. To attract people to visit Capitol Park, integrating public art displays on the front facade will catch attention and can be moving artwork that promotes positivity. The media facade on the front of the building displays art at night, making the art accessible to anyone in the area.

M.O.D.A. - Interior Details The digital art displays require selective lighting, which is different in each exhibit space depending on the type of media the art on display is. This can include film, photography, models and interactive displays. The acoustic design was also an area of focus so that the art could be best enjoyed and the architecture becomes a blank slate to promote a pure artistic experience.
