Milly by Michelle Smith is a premier fashion designer, renowned for “American sportswear silhouettes with French atelier style, influenced by her Parisian training at Christian Dior Haute Couture, Louis Vuitton and Hermes”. Michelle Smith’s work has become iconic and recognizable across the world, as several high end retailers have picked up her designs over the years. Smith’s DesigNation collection for Kohl’s is titled Capri based on international inspiration and influences from Smith’s recent trip to Capri, Italy. There are so many vibrant colors and patterns that are unique to this collection to make you feel like the next “IT” girl. The matched pieces are specifically designed to appeal to that sophisticated yet informal Mediterranean culture and signature Caprese style of effortlessly chic dressing. With this collection there are alot of options. Most of the time, seasonal collab collections will heavily feature options that are the same thing with a slight twist. With this collection we are given so many alternative pieces to choose from. The prices range from $38 to $100, which is so affordable for the fashionista on a budget. Kohl’s may not have the most stylish reputation on its own, but they have had really good designers for its DesigNation collab series including Derek Lam, Narciso Rodriguez, Peter Som and, most recently, Elie Tahari. The Milly for Designation collection is available at Kohl’s Department Stores nationwide and online at kohls.com. ORSOLA BYRNE

COCA-COLA X HERSHEL The latest to jump into the fashion collaboration game is Coca-Cola, who is also celebrating their 100th anniversary. Coca-cola created a capsule collection of accessories created in partnership with Herschel, Friends, and more. It is on sale at Colette, with a huge release today on the brand’s individual sites. Coca-cola’s director of global design Deklah Polansky, states,“Like fashion, Coca-Cola is ever-present in our lives. Each is as much about personal moments as they are about cultural movements. Much like blue jeans, white T-shirts, and leather jackets, Coca-Cola is an icon. Dress them up or down, they go with everything.” Food brands use fashion to elevate their offerings to appeal to a wider audience, and that is exactly what Coca-Cola has been achieving for decades. en.colette.fr KAYLA WILLIS

CARA DELEVINGNE X MULBERRY Cara Delevingne, this moment’s It girl, is not only a model, aspiring actor, and sometime musician, she is also now a designer for Mulberry; just one more thing to add to her extensive and impressive resume. Although the partnership was a spontaneous moment during a shoot, Delevingne’s knowledge in fashion and textiles was a key asset to the collection. Cara’s collection for Mulberry consists of a group of handbags featuring three sizes in a range of leathers, including a special limited edition inspired by the model’s lion tattoo. The bags have straps that convert from backpack to shoulder to hand-held, so the bag is prepared to accommodate to any style and mood. DANIELLA ARCILA

CHRISTOPHER KANE X NARS The latest partnership between Christopher Kane and Nars brings his signature aesthetic to Neoneutral, a limited edition collection of unexpected shades and formulas. This designer range is inspired by the nature of neon and the nude shades that complement them. The Christopher Kane for NARS collection infuses the perfect balance of bold brights and natural flesh tones – together they create a new version of neutral. Eyes are enhanced with iridescent rose gold, pink lilac, and violet. Cheeks are flushed with soft beige or hot pink. And lips are saturated in high-shine shades of neon pink and coral that subtly stain after the gloss is gone. This will definitely wake you want to try a fresh new take on your classic neutrals and inject some creative energy into your next looks. ISABEL ASENSIO

antly the hot item for the summer. In case you weren’t aware, gladiator sandals originated from, you guessed it, the roman gladiator. Many of the fighting gladiators were fighting in their bare feet. They needed a secure form of protection for their feet from the blood soaked sand. The sole of the sandal had the toughest leather to protect the foot bed and softer leather straps up the leg secured the shoe. It wasn’t until the late 1960’s that flesh baring sandals were not appropriate again. Since then, gladiator sandals have been in and out of fashion from great designers such as Versace and Calvin Klein through

B L A C K & W H ITE Black and white is nothing new but for this spring it’s everywhere. When we hear this combination of colors we think there’s nothing exciting about it but for this season, designers experimented around with textures, patterns, and silhouettes. Designers from all walks of fashion are using this black-andwhite combo to make bold statements for spring. Joseph Altuzarra selected stripes and Diane von Furstenberg chose gingham, while Thakoon played around with fringe. The best part of this trend is that it can be adapted to anyone’s personal style and as we all know black and white never go out of season. DANIELLA ARCILA

Since leaving J.Crew, she had brought Banana Republic to NYFW for the first time ever presenting for Fall 2015 this past February. Webb has plans to bring the company in a more high-fashion direction, which I think is great for the company. Fashion forward professional wear is becoming more appealing to men and women. It is great to see more affordable, high fashion piece coming down the runway for the average consumer. In an interview Webb stated that “Banana Republic has been very popular for straightforward workwear,” she said. “We are pushing that 360-degree lifestyle. I think it’s about being adventurous. My phrase is, ‘Don’t be so dull.’ You can undo that top button. We want people to know that this is who we are and we are taking risks and we’re being adventurous and we are leading the conversation and really being creative.” Webbs first collection will be Banana Republics summer 2015 lineup. Cara Delevingne states, “I’ve always wanted to be an actress, more than anything in the world.” Come July Delevingne’s dream will come true, starring in John Green’s coming-of-age novel Paper Towns. Cara Delevingne explains, “Modeling was never a passion of mine. It wasn’t something that made my heart beat and built a fire inside of me,” but landing the role of Margo in the film Paper Towns is everything she’d hoped it would be and more. “I fell in love” with her, she reveals. “I just thought she was so amazing…I was far more unsure and self-conscious when I was that age.” The film comes out July 24 and it’s a film I would advise everyone to go and see as Cara Delevingne steps off the runway and into the big screen. John McLaughlin is just a humble motion media designer originally from a tiny town in New Jersey. Since finishing school at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2012, he has relocated to the big apple. He has worked for some big name companies that enabled him to create and work on fun projects, thus Fuzzy Dude. was born. While working on the side for Tumbler in 2013, taking photos during NYFW, he added Fuzzy Dude to his animated GIFs just to ease down the seriousness of Fashion Week. It was a hit. jhnmclghln.tumblr.com. ORSOLA BYRNE

The members of Mumford & Sons are moving away from the sound that made the band famous. Leaving pastoral folkies behind, “Wilder Mind” –their third studio album- is a melodic, middle-of-the-road rock album. Mumford & Sons have always had a love of cathartic, rafter-rattling hooks part of the reason that their incremental journey from folk to arena rock makes a certain sense, even as it robs the group of much of what made it novel. The members’ sound was lost, as if they went looking for themselves and found Coldplay instead. The album is set to be released on May 4th. ISABEL ASENSIO

ANTHR POLOGY M O D E L P R O F IL E H EDGES DOR LIPO

Hedges Dorlipo is an upcoming model who was discovered last year working in Sephora in Paris, France. Hedges he has never really been camera shy, from a young age his brother who is a photographer had him become used to being in front of the camera. He states, “Now I don’t care if there’s thousands of people, I stay focused and i don’t worry about what people think of me because I know who I am on the inside.” Being in such a tough industry it is important to know who you are as a person. Only being in the industry for a year Hedges has already walked for big names such as Balmain. With his unique features and piercing blue eyes you can only expect him to be one of the next big names in the modeling industry. Kayla Willis

AN THRO P O LO G Y

Q: How were you discovered? A:I was discovered by a man who is now my agent and a friend of mine, Laurent Piombo. Hum, It was in July 2014 in Paris, at the time i was working as a skincare advisor at Sephora, the Huge Sephora of Champs Elysée. A young woman came to me and asked me if I was already modeling, I told her that I would like to but I had no agency. So she told me I really should do something about it, in fact she knew a man who was into model management and he was going to be in Paris for a few days. Then she asked me if she could take a few pictures of me to show the pictures to this man she told me about. I was at work, this whole thing was happening in this place I was supposed to be working. But she said to me a few seconds earlier that the man she’s going to send these pictures to was the agent of a very known model, Baptiste Giabiconni. I didn’t believe her at first but I was scared to let this chance pass me by if it was true. So i said yes. She took the pictures, kind of Polaroids/Digitals and she sent it to Laurent. Five minutes later, a meeting was planned with him. It all went very fast because this young woman saw me on Friday, I met the man on Saturday, and on Monday, 10am, I was at Elite to meet the director of booking. Still the same day, 11am, I was at Marilyn agency, my current agency, that took me in right after our meeting. Q: How old were you? A: I was 19 yo Q:What was our first gig? A: My first Job was an Editorial for a Web magazine named chasseurmagazine.com. The theme was “Wife”. Young men dating older women... It was pretty weird for a first.

155

156

V A P O RIZ A T IO N

Q: Tell us about your family and the values they instilled on you? A: My family is my everything, when I traveled alone for the first time I learned about myself that I am much more attached to my family than I though I was. I have a brother and a sister before me, then there’s me and my twin sister and the last one, another brother. Values, my mother showed me love she told me what she expected me to be. My father was my role model, he showed me how to respect, how to love, and how to love with respect. Q: Some people are camera shy, you obviously aren’t, were you always confident? A: Lord knows I wasn’t always that confident. I was so shy before. From 9 to 14 I had my hair long and people used to think I am a girl when they first see me. Then it was my skin.. Lets call it redness... I was a teenager for real. What saved me about it is that my older brother is photographer, he had me use to be in front of a camera. Now I don’t care if there’s thousands of people, I stay focused and i don’t worry about what people think of me because I know who I am on the inside. Q: Who are some idols and where do you find inspiration? A: I know you might not like my answer but I would hate to be idolized so I don’t idolize at all. My motivations are to be a solution and a victory for my family and friends but to ever be an humble man. All i want is to bring the fruits of my work at home, just to make my people happy by giving em everything they need. I won’t waste my time running after my own glory.

HEDGES D O R LI P O

Q: Is there a particular client that you are always happy to work with? A: Not yet, I didn’t had the chance to have recurrent clients for now. But I’d really like to work with Malan Breton again for they were very nice and simple with their models. Q: What places have you traveled to? A: I have been in Orlando, Spain, Italy for holidays. For modeling I only went to New York. Orlando and NY were my favorites. Q: Have you pick up any skills on your travels? A: None. Q: Do you have any hidden talents? A: They won’t be hidden anymore if I tell you about it... Yes, I can sing. I’m not sure i am food at it but I think I can. Q: What does the fashion world need the most? A: Can i skip the question ?

Q: What other projects are you working on right now besides modeling? A: I’m a Bible nerd, I read, decrypt and analyze the scriptures.

Q: What can we expect from you in the future? A: I don’t know what and how to answer to that question. I don’t want to philosophy but i think the best you can expect from someone is the unexpected. KAYLA WILLIS
