Listening to people in pain is not just dealing with the mechanics of listening or the study of body language. Listening is knowing what can happen when people are heard. The insights that come as someone listens to us. The learning that happens as we talk. The healing found in having someone who is trying to simply understand us. How great it feels to have our thoughts heard and our feelings given importance. Every family has an important story to tell.
