Define Your Brand

“I’ve made a conscious effort to be out two nights a week. I’ll go to a jazz club or poetry slam. I started playing capture the flag in the city, and made a lot of friends through that.” - Alex Yellen, Lang Student

The transition from home to college can be an important time in your life. Our housing is designed to encourage academic growth through independent living. Students have unlimited access to Greenwich Village, a community rich in art, music, and literature. This area is located near Union Square, Astor Place, and Washington Square Park. Such resources foster growth and develop. Housing facilities unite Lang students with others attending The New School. Here, learning continues through social relationships in a diverse living environment. Your character represents all you stand for. You promise to never settle for the way things are. You discover that the world needs innovators; people who create alternatives to the norm. You stand out because you seek to learn what directly impacts others. Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts is a place where your ideas unite with a bigger picture. At Lang, we encourage learning of the things that matter to you. We view our students as visionaries willing to define their own learning experience. We challenge you to take charge of your passions in an effort to define your brand.

New York City offers literary districts, art galleries, wifi cafes, music, and performing arts. At Lang, we host school events that exemplify the city on a more intimate level. How you choose to take advantage of this is up to you. The Summer Housing program offers housing between during the summer and winter semesters. You are encouraged to seek employment, internships, and take

courses during the summer months. Summer housing is located within Greenwich Village and lower Manhattan’s financial district. Nearby markets, restaurants, and public transportation make this a prime location. Safe, Secure Campus Living As part of the new student orientation, you have an opportunity to attend a workshop on “Safety in the City”. Campus ID’s are required for entry into each campus buildings. This ensures student safety from outside threats.

Discover Your Path You are anxious to begin your journey. However, you realize the path you set out to take is a road less traveled. At Lang, we welcome abstract ideas. Our faculty understands how a supportive learning environment encourages growth. Our goal is to help you reach your objectives. We know finding your path requires a great deal of risks. Foreign study options and domestic exchange partnerships permit you to take your education anywhere in the world. Students also have access to degree programs within The New School for collaborative learning. Programs of Study

At Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, your voice is our greatest treasure. Traditional institutions offer large classes taught by a professor in a large auditorium; our approach to learning is through small class sizes led by student interaction. This enables you to be heard. Classes are led by group discussions, focused on topics chosen by students. Seminar-style learning promotes interaction with other students and professors during class. You are led to discover how your ideas fit together and why they matter to you. This can develop your thinking on where you want to be, and how you want to make a difference.
