JAZZ PROFILES WITH NANCY WILSON Monday at 9 pm
12/5 Trombonist Al Grey He was described as a "sterling trombonist whose humorous inflection and skill with the plunger have been balanced by his excellent facility and overall technique." Grey (pictured) performed to the end of his life with appearances at Basie Band reunions and sessions, as well as teaching young musicians the techniques he developed throughout the years. This program follows Grey's prolific career as a trombonist in bands ranging from Count Basie's to Lionel Hampton's.
12/12 Pianist/Vocalist Jay McShann 12/19 Saxophonist Illinois Jacquet Illinois Jacquet (pictured) has performed on every continent and has played before kings, queens and presidents. In his long career, saxophonist Jacquet virtually personifies the entire jazz tradition. In the early years, he played saxophone in the swing-era big bands of Count Basie, Lionel Hampton and Cab Calloway. And as a teenager, he became famous for his saxophone solo on "Flying Home" with Lionel Hampton's big band. Jacquet later became an international celebrity touring with the all-star group Jazz at the Philharmonic. For this giant of the saxophone, music is a language for all people and the key to bringing a deeper, more lasting harmony to life.

Individually, they have played with Herbie Hancock, Joni Mitchell, Salif Keita and Tito Puente; together they’re helping to create a new language in jazz.
12/13 Best of the Cuban Big Bands 12/20 Sweet Honey in the Rock Grammy winning a-capella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock (pictured) shines a new light on the work of Odetta, Abbey Lincoln and Nina Simone – and mark their own 30year anniversary and try something new with a backing trio.

PIANO JAZZ WITH MARIAN MCPARTLAND Wednesday at 9 pm
12/7 Bud Shank 12/14 The Music of Marian McPartland Of all McPartland’s (pictured) attributes, possibly the most underrated is her ability as a composer. Her piano pieces have entered the jazz repertoire, and some of her songs – with lyrics by such stars as Johnny Mercer, Sammy Cahn, and Peggy Lee – are part of the Great American Songbook. Guest host Murray Horwitz leads this exposition through some of her most beautiful works, with performances by Cleo Laine, Sarah Vaughan, the Thad Jones-Mel Lewis Orchestra – and, of course, Marian herself.
12/21 Holiday Memories with Michael Feinstein Michael Feinstein (pictured) is a tireless champion and conservator of American Popular Song. And no yuletide trip to Manhattan is complete without a visit to his holiday show at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency. On this special program, he shares some of his favorite tunes and memories of the season.

W ild W omen N ever H ave T he B lues Friday, December 16th at 9pm
You’d think that after nineteen years, the Wild Women would be slowing down a little. Nineteen years of seasonal faux-pas, embarrassing revelations, songs to horrify Aunt Tessie, live on-air burps and bloopers, and conduct generally unbecoming a lady. But this year’s “Wild Women Never Have the Blues”—with Alisa Clancy, Jayne Sanchez and Kathleen Lawton—will once again feature high-energy hilarity and humiliation, fueled by copious amounts of fake champagne and geriatric vitamins. Join us for our three-hour annual tribute to all the embarrassments of the holiday season.
