FORT FORT HOOD HOOD AREA AREA HABITAT HABITAT FOR FOR HUMANITY HUMANITY SERVES SERVES CENTRAL CENTRAL TEXANS TEXANS THROUGH THROUGH RESTORE RESTORE The Fort Hood Area Habitat for Humanity ReStore is open to the public Tuesday through Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 10am-5pm. The ReStore carries new and used building materials, furniture, electronics, and appliances. It is almost entirely community oriented- donors provide the goods, volunteers support the operations, and the revenue is returned to the community. Donors throughout Central Texas search for an avenue to donate goods in a way that provides the goods to someone who needs it and supports the community in the process. The ReStore provides this avenue. Every donation brought to the ReStore or picked up from a donor’s home or business is sold to the public at a fraction of the retail cost. The revenue from the goods sold goes directly toward programs that improve Central Texas, by providing homeownership opportunities, critical home repair programs, community revitalization efforts, and Veteran Build Initiatives. The ReStore is an avenue for local homeowners to find the materials needed to complete home projects and improve their living conditions for just a fraction of the cost. Ms. Teri is a living testament to what is possible through the ReStore. Moving to Killeen from Houston February 2018, after her home was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey, August 2017, she decided to reside in a home that was left to her by her grandmother, but it needed work.

Over the past 2 years Ms. Teri has become a regular supporter of the ReStore traveling from Killeen, Georgetown & Austin purchasing carpeting, cabinets, appliances, lighting and much much more. She has successfully recreated her bedroom, hallway, and bathroom with a majority of items purchased from the ReStore and is currently working on rebuilding her kitchenwith items purchased from the Restore eventually replacingher roof. Ms. Teri estimates that she has spent 15% of what she would have spent if shopping at full retail price through box stores.

Thank you all for your help, signed Ms. Teri.” Through the ReStore, builders and contractors serving Central Texans have found a way to give back to the community while reducing their costs for projects. Costs are reduced through tax deductions and reduced disposal costs by donating used and surplus new materials and items. Builders and contractors have seen costs reduced significantly by purchasing brand new items from the ReStore including flooring, doors, siding, and paint. Many have turned around and put these savings right back into the community through build sponsorships, donating time at construction sites, or donations directly toward new builds or repairs. We thank all our community partners, volunteers, and donors for helping to ensure that every Central Texan has a safe and decent place to live.
