Dear Sirs: RE: Comments on 617 Scope I am interested in commenting on the Draft Scope for the proposed changes to Part 617, the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) regulations that was Noticed on July 11, 2012. Unfortunately, the 30-day comment period, which ends on August 10, is inadequate for many stakeholders, such as myself, who wish to provide detailed, thoughtful recommendations for the Scope. Additionally, these 30 days straddle the heart of the summer vacation period, making it all the more difficult for us to meet such a short deadline. In the 37-year history of the SEQRA regulations, there have been only two opportunities for the public to suggest improvements. Please do not diminish one of the few opportunities to comment on and improve these regulations, which are essential to nearly every level of government in New York State and to the vast majority of decisions made by these agencies. Please extend the comment period on this draft scope for an additional 30 days. I am sure this short extension of will not adversely affect the rulemaking process and in fact may greatly enhance the public participation and the quality of the comments received. Thank you.
