Greta Thunberg The Voice of a Generation

Greta Thurnberg is a Swedish environmental activist, speaking in public rallies and directly to political leaders.

She began the School Climate Strikes, and by March 2019, was staging regular protests by camping outside the Swedish Parliment every Friday, occasionally being joined by other students.

In February 2019, 224 academics signed an open letter stating that they were inspired by Greta’s activism, and her ability to make the voices of the youth heard.

She has received a multitude of awards, including Time’s Person of the Year, and refuses to attend ceremonies which require to to fly; spearheading the anti-flying movement Various politicains have acknowledged her outspoken plee for change, including Michael Gove, Britian’s secretary for the environment, stating,

“You have woken us up.”

Greta recognises that she is “one of the lucky ones”, in that she is able to have her voice heard, and lives in a place thus far unaffected by climate catastrophes.

“I want you to act as if the house is on fire, because it is.”

Today, Greta continues her activism, and attends forums and conferences.
