THE STORY of Anthony Manganaro’s journey to the Thoroughbred industry is a story of ambition, passion and determination to realize a dream for the sport of Thoroughbred racing.

As a child, Manganaro often visited Suffolk Downs with his father, a tradition that planted the seeds of a lifelong appreciation for horse racing. In 2007, Manganaro took that passion to Kentucky where he purchased and transformed a former cattle farm into what is now Siena Farm, a boutique breeding operation. His vision for the property and his forthcoming program was

In the ensuing years Siena Farm became known for producing elite runners. Manganaro’s approach to breeding was meticulous. His team shared his commitment to excellence, and the results followed. Siena Farm has produced many top class performers including Grade 1/ Grade 2 winners Angela Renee, Dayoutoftheoffice, Isabella Sings, Point of Honor and Wicked Whisper.

Perhaps most notably, Manganaro was part of the ownership group behind undefeated champion and Horse of the Year Flightline. His involvement in the sport, both as a breeder and an owner, brought him recognition and respect across the racing world.

While the thrill of racing never lost its appeal, Manganaro’s true love for the sport manifested in the challenge of breeding. He was a firm believer in the power of pedigree and the potential of each foal to live up to the potential of

their bloodline on the racetrack and in the breeding shed. As the dispersal of bloodstock from Siena Farm takes place at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, those who knew, admired, and respected him will have the rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Manganaro’s legacy.

Anthony was very diligent in buying good horses, raising good horses on great land out in Paris and he was really a student of the business. He put a lot of effort into pedigree analysis and research, and I think that comes through in his progeny–the horses that he owns and acquired.
