I was unable to attend Dwell on Design this year, but luckily DoD offered to capture some of the homes on the tour exclusively for Design Milk. See all of this year始s exclusive 2011 Dwell on Design house tours here.

We始re on the Eastside of LA this week touring a few homes including this one located in Silver Lake. The Redcliff Residence is a 2,000 square foot home on a hill. The renovation by DEX Studio, led by designer Glen Bell, included adding a second floor, changing the exterior, and reconfiguring the floorplan on the first floor. An important aspect of the remodel was adding ways to take advantage of the

views, including an addition 800 square feet of balcony space. The sloped roof and addition adds interest to the exterior. The landscape of tiered planters and steps makes me jealous when I look into my own backyard and see the overgrown weeds. I also particularly like the furnishings in this home. Not overcrowded or expected, the furniture and artwork is well chosen, some of the art was created by one of the homeowners.
