A Quick Guide to

KELLETT SCHOOL The British International School in Hong Kong

Our Kowloon Bay campus was completed in 2013 and holds both a Senior and Prep school

Welcome to Kellett School, The British International School in Hong Kong. We proudly offer an exceptional education at our two Preparatory Schools and Senior School at our campuses on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Bay. Throughout Kellett’s more than 40 years of history, the School has been known for its superb education, both in the classroom and beyond. We offer a challenging and stimulating environment where high academic achievement is realised within a broad English curriculum embracing creativity, the arts and sport, all the while taking advantage of our unique position in Hong Kong. The world does not stand still, so we continually evolve our educational offering to ensure we are equipping our students with the right mindset and skillset to enable them to thrive - today and tomorrow. When a student leaves Kellett, we want them to be mature, globally-minded individuals with an appreciation of other cultures, ideas and beliefs. Whether you are interested in our school as a potential student, parent or colleague, I hope you enjoy learning about our community.

ABOUT US Established in 1976, we are proud to be one of Hong Kong’s foremost international schools, a reputation built on our unwavering aim to nurture a love of learning and confidence for life in every one of our students. The School was founded by parents looking for high quality British style education. Kellett has grown in size and stature over the years, but parents remain highly involved. Kellett is a Not-For-Profit organisation with a parentled Board of Governors and highly skilled teaching and support staff. Kellett is a ‘through train’ school. The Pok Fu Lam campus houses a Prep School located in Wah Fu at the foot of Mount Kellett, while the Kowloon Bay campus, contains a Prep and Senior School. We have over 1400 students from over thirty different countries.

CURRICULUM We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage and English National Curriculum, which includes GCSEs, IGCSEs and A-levels with minor adaptations to fit our local context. As our children progress through school, they are encouraged to learn with growing independence in a challenging and stimulating environment. As a result, they achieve consistently strong academic results.

PASTORAL In a rapidly changing world, Kellett’s pastoral care model assists students in preparing to take their places in society equipped with a robust emotional skill set. Positive Education is taught explicitly in all three schools, helping our students to take responsibility for their well-being, both at school and beyond.

BUILDINGS & FACILITIES Award-winning, state-of-the-art spaces at Kowloon Bay include a fully operational theatre, a CrossFit gym, dance studio and a large artificial turf and multisport area including a rooftop running track. The School’s swimming pool can also be adjusted to suit different swimming and age levels.

SPORTS & ARTS Sport is an integral part of student life at Kellett. Our PE curriculum and extra-curricular sporting programme enable students to enjoy and succeed at sport. Students who show particular promise are able to train with exceptional coaches and compete at a higher level, representing the school across Hong Kong and the region. When it comes to the arts, purpose built drama and dance studios, design and technology suites, exhibition spaces, a 380-seat theatre and top of the range practice rooms create an exceptional learning environment.

PREP SCHOOL Kellett’s Prep Schools offer a vibrant adventure in learning that follows an enhanced English National Curriculum. Prep classes, where students are kept to 23, are known for attaining high levels in reading, writing and numeracy. Concerts, performances and assemblies are incorporated throughout the year, helping children to develop confidence and public speaking skills.

5

SENIOR SCHOOL Small classes and a low student-to-teacher ratio, coupled with exciting and engaging teaching, help our students reach their academic potential. We are proud to be one of the few schools in Hong Kong offering the prestigious A-level programme, recognised worldwide as excellent preuniversity qualifications. The Sixth Form is a real strength of the school, with many of our students gaining places at the world’s leading universities.

ALUMNI As we approach our 50th anniversary, the Kellett community extends well beyond Hong Kong and the years that individuals spend at the school. We regularly organise reunions and networking events in cities around the world and update the community on the many interesting things Old Kellettonians (OKs) are up to. The network also provides a way for former students to give back by offering mentoring and career advice to today’s cohort.
