Who We Are We are Kellett School, the British International School in Hong Kong. We offer a British-style, academic education designed for the English-speaking community in Hong Kong. Our curriculum is based upon, and teaches beyond, the National Curriculum for England, providing students with both a local and international perspective. Our curriculum is highly transferable and is recognised throughout the English-speaking world, allowing students easily to move to and from British, British international and English-medium schools and universities worldwide.

Student leadership positions are available at all stages and include class, house and student councils, prefect roles and ultimately Head Boy and Head Girl. Under the careful guidance of Kellett staff, students also learn to take ever increasing responsibility for their own learning, in preparation for the next stage of their lives.

This strong education, combined with a unique set of transferable skills, enables seamless transfer to and from leading British independent and British international schools worldwide, private schools in the USA and Australasia as well as high calibre universities across the globe.

The Kellett Family Kellett School owes its very existence to the initiative of energetic parents. Kellett School was founded by a group of parents looking to provide a high-quality, British-style education for their children and the English-speaking community in Hong Kong. To this day parent participation is greatly encouraged. Kellett School is committed to an educational partnership of students, parents and staff. We believe that by working together, sharing expectations, responsibilities and aspirations, our students’ needs are best met and we fulfill our aim of ‘a love of learning and confidence for life’.

The Parents’ Committee The Parents’ Committee co-ordinates social events, fundraising and day-to-day support of the school. Even the busiest working parents eventually find themselves taking on a specific role. Through the Parents’ Committee, parents in the Prep Schools can be found with small reading groups, supporting on school trips, helping in the libraries, taking cooking classes or supporting a class as Class Parent. In the Senior School parents take on Year Group Leader roles and can be found helping out in the school shop.

Governance Kellett School is operated by Kellett School Association Limited, a company limited by guarantee, through a board of elected Governors and ex-officio members. Governors are elected by rotation to keep management policies fresh and to reflect parents’ interests. Perhaps unique to Hong Kong, the elected members of Kellett School’s Board of Governors are all Kellett parents. The Board are responsible for the management of the Association, its business, charitable status and school policy. They call upon staff, education specialists and others, as required, for specific advice and guidance.

Admissions Kellett School welcomes all students whose needs can be met within a mainstream English-medium school setting. Applications are accepted from birth, and places are offered according to date of application and our priority criteria. The school provides education for students aged between 4 years and 18 years of age and has approximately 1200 students on roll. Kellett School has aligned its admission year with the English school system.

Scholarships & Bursaries Kellett School is committed to providing the best possible care and education to its students and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. To this end, Kellett is committed to broadening access to the school by offering financial support with payment of school fees to eligible parents/guardians. Such support is known as a Bursary and may be awarded in the form of an allowance on school fees payable, depending on the financial, compassionate or other pertinent circumstances of applicants. Further details may be found on the Kellett School website. To support the school’s long-term development and to enrich the student body, Kellett offers a limited number of Academic, Music and Sporting Scholarships to eligible students. Kellett School is proud of its tradition of excellence, curriculum breadth and wider opportunities and Kellett Scholars are expected to wholeheartedly embrace and participate in the breadth of curriculum, pastoral and social opportunities the school offers. Eligible applicants will initially be assessed based on their most recent reports from their existing school as well as other information provided in their application form.
