A Message from SueWhat makes our trips special?
John and I started Operatunity Travel 17 years ago. We specialise in seniors’ music and arts tours both in New Zealand and overseas, presenting around 25 trips per year. These can include seeing operas in Italy, to musicals in Australia, to presenting our own music festivals in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific across a wide range of musical genres.
Our artists who perform in our Daytime Concert Series escort the trips and miraculously turn from attentive hosts by day to stars of the stage by night, performing music concerts in amazing locations all over the world. These include on a chartered paddle steamer on the Murray River, a private concert in Pavarotti’s house in Italy, Cardiff Castle, in a pub in Ireland, in the Waitomo Caves, or our own boat in Doubtful Sound.
Coupled with this we take travellers to see amazing performances like the Verdi Opera Festival in Italy, the Nashville Country Music Festival, musicals in Australia and on Broadway and the West End, André Rieu in Maastricht, Andrea Bocelli, and Michael Bublé to name but a few.
Our seniors’ tours are planned with longer stays rather than moving to a new place each day. The activities planned are senior-friendly, treating you with respect, as adults with a brain and a keen interest in learning about the places you are travelling to but at a pace which is manageable and makes the trip enjoyable.
When you travel with Operatunity you are travelling with like-minded people. Music helps to provide a common bond. Seniors are often put in a position where they feel they are a burden, a nuisance, someone to be tolerated. We want our seniors to feel the opposite. We want them to be themselves, have fun, and enjoy exceptional experiences. We want them to see places they never thought they could. We want them to experience life to the fullest. We want them to forget they are older. We want them to laugh and live. We do this through music, companionship, a high level of care and safe travel.

Terms and Conditions.
• Please refer to our full booking form or on our website for all terms and conditions.
• All bookings must be accompanied by a deposit. Your place on a trip is not confirmed until a deposit is made.
• First and second deposits are refundable minus office costs of up to $500. We try to be flexible but we cannot hold bookings for one person without deposits on numerous trips at the expense of others being able to book on the trip as so many of our trips sell out.
• After the final balance due date, we are unable to give refunds. This becomes an insurance claim. All itinerary details are subject to change but any changes will be replaced with a comparable or better option.
• You require insurance for all international trips. We strongly recommend insurance for NZ trips as well. Please take out your insurance before the final balance due date.
• We plan our trips for active seniors so people can fully enjoy the trip, music and activities, while having a chance for a rest day or a lighter day at times. A suitable standard of health and mobility is required for all trips.
• Our staff always go above in care and kindness on our trips. You will not find a more caring travel company. But there also needs to be personal responsibility so please speak to us and your doctor if you feel unsure about your ability to cope with a trip. Sorry no one in a wheelchair and only a walker on some local trips. You need to be able to handle all activities of daily living, as it is not for our staff to look after personal needs except in exceptional circumstances. We reserve the right to ask someone to leave the trip at their own expense if they are unable to cope with it and are putting undue pressure on other travellers or staff.
• By paying your deposit you accept all our terms and conditions.
