Need assistance setting up your scanner? Are you getting error while scanning, or have trouble setting it up? Try following the steps to rectify that.
Make sure it’s on without any error It should not be turned off or in sleep mode. Check the LCD for any error messages like, “paper jam” or “ink/toner empty”.
Check the connection To use the scanner via network make sure the scanner is connected to the pc in peer-to-peer network environment. If the scanner is connected to a pc which is connected to the network then the other pc connected to the network can’t perform the scan, as it does not work for client pc.
Check the scanner driver Make sure that the scanner model shows on the scanner list. Under scanners and cameras. Go to: Click Start and type "scan" in the search field. Then, click View scanners and cameras.
Check the IP address of your brother scanner Get the machine's IP address by printing a Network Configuration List.
Set the IP Address on the Scanner Driver Open Scanner Properties. Click the Network Setting tab and select Specify your machine by address. Enter the IP Address you confirmed in Step 5 and click OK.
Check the Firewall settings There is a possibility the firewall of your system might be blocking the scanner. Try disabling the firewall and try the network scanning again. If you are not comfortable disabling your firewall you can try adjusting the sittings of your firewall.
Reinstall the Brother drivers If all that didn’t work try uninstalling the scanner driver and installing the latest driver for your model. Try to scan again to make sure the problem is resolved or not. If not, Make sure there is no security application or firewall trying to block the network collection. Try scanning from another system connected to another network.
