Add your Charter email to Outlook • If you using Charter email, you and this service easier, faster and better by adding it to your outlook email client. • Follow this simple procedure to successfully setup of your account. • Click on the start menu and open MS Outlook from the Office.
In Outlook 2007, click Tools, then Account Settings.
In Outlook 2010 or 2013, click File, then Info, then Add Account.
Select the Add button and select Mail. Outlook Express runs a wizard to guide you through each step of configuring Outlook Express.
Choose the option Manually configure server settings or additional server types and select Next.
Choose the Internet E-mail option and select Next.
Enter the following required settings in the Internet E-mail Settings fields: User Information: • In the Your Name field, enter your full name as you want it to display when sending an email. • In the E-mail Address field, enter your Spectrum email address.
Server Information: • Select IMAP from the Account Type drop-down. • In the Incoming mail server field, enter imap.spectrum.net • In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, enter smtp.spectrum.net
Logon Information • In the User Name field, enter yourusername@charter.net • In the Password field, enter the password for your email account.
Helpful Hint: Select Test Account settings to verify that you have configured your Spectrum email settings correctly.
Select More Settings. Select the Outgoing Servers tab and enter the following required settings: • Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox. • Select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server checkbox.
Select the Advanced tab and enter the following required settings: Server Port Numbers: • In the Incoming server (IMAP) field, enter 143. • In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, enter 25. • Select None for Use the following types of encrypted connections settings.
Helpful Hints: • Select Leave a copy of messages on the server if you want email messages kept on Spectrum's server (instead of downloaded to your computer). This setting is useful if you want to access your email from multiple computers or via web-based email. Select Remove from server after a desired number of days. Note: You may exceed your maximum storage if you leave multiple emails on the server for more than 10 days.
Finished!
Select OK to save Outgoing Server settings. Select Next on the Internet E-mail Settings screen and then Finish to complete account setup. Your emails will be synchronized with your outlook 2013 email client.
