Email on ThunderBird ● ● ●

ThunderBird was made by Mozilla to make emails easier. Thunderbird makes email better for you, bringing together speed, privacy and the latest technologies. Prior to this feature you had to know your IMAP, SMTP, and SSL/TLS settings. Now all you need to provide is your name, email address, and password and the email account set up wizardry will check our database and find the email settings for you. Thunderbird makes getting Personalized Email Addresses easy (such as "dad@thesmithfamily.com") - you can sign up for a new email address within Thunderbird, and it will all be set up automatically for you ready to send and receive.

Thunderbird Not Responding ● ●

Sometimes ThunderBird don’t even start because of not responding problem. There are various things that can cause any program to not respond. Windows OS, Adobe, java etc performing updates in the background will always get a not responding on a computer, so set the updates to notify me but not install until you’re ready ready. 'BitDefender'( or any other antivirus you may have) needs exclusions to be set to not scan any Thunderbird folder on startup, that means both the Program and your Profile folder. Possible help here: ○

Manage the Antivirus ● ● ● ● ● ● ●

'BitDefender' also needs settings to stop scanning incoming/outgoing mail. Switching off 'BitDefender' may not provide the results you expect; you may discover that Windows own 'Defender' has now switched on. If you are running 'BitDefender' make sure it is the only Anti-Virus product running. After setting updates to occur when you specify. After setting up 'Bitdefender' to exclude Thunderbird folders and not scan incoming and outgoing mail. After ensuring only 'BitDefender' was the only working AV and Windows own Defender is not running as well. Now perform these test in order stated and provide feedback on each test, go into 'Offline' mode.

'Offline' mode. ●

● ●

To go offline mode either : 'File' > 'Offline' > 'Work Offline' ; or Click on the two blue screen icon located far left in Status Bar. It will change to two black screen icon = offline. You will not be able to download or send emails, but you will be able to select folders, emails, access Account settings and Options, Write emails and use 'Send Later' to put them in the Outbox. Please perform various tests accessing different parts of ThunderBird and note the results. Clicking on the two black screen icon will get you back to 'online' mode.

And Finally.

Now, do this in this order: ○ ○ ○

Started Windows OS in Safe mode with Networking. Started Thunderbird in Normal Mode If you have some IMAP folders, allow time for Thunderbird to access server.
