Newsletter for Parents & Students - October 2013 Live Right…Learn Right…Southside
Hello Benton Community! We are thrilled with the start of our new year here at Benton. There are lots of changes around Benton this year and we hope you are as excited as we are to get to work for the betterment of our students. Those of us new to Benton appreciate the warm reception we have been given by the students and the Southside community in general. Speaking of the Southside, we at Benton and each of our feeder schools are working together to improve the education for our youth. We have a new motto at Benton this year that has been adopted by all our schools of “Live Right…Learn Right…Southside.” We plan to use this motto for years to come and think it encompasses what we hope our students strive for as we build citizens of our great community. If you have ideas to improve Southside education in general or within specific areas, please let us or one of our feeder school Principals know so we can use the information to build the best plan possible to help our students succeed. If you have ideas, issues, concerns, or want to just talk about how things are going, please stop by or call us at 671-4030. We might not be able to talk when you call, but we will certainly call you back. Again, we are very excited to be at Benton and look forward to working with you and your children now, and in the years to come. Thank you for your involvement and support of our students and staff of Benton High School. Sincerely, Beery Johnson Principal Luke McCoy Asst. Principal (10th & 12th Grades) Michele Thomason Asst. Principal (9th & 11th Grades) ~Live Right…Learn Right…Southside~

GIRLS SOCCER Girls who are interested in participating in soccer during the Spring 2014 season should contact Coach Janner to obtain an off-season workout packet. This is especially important for players not enrolled in a weights course, nor participating in a Fall and/or Winter sport. This packet will focus on functional weight training, aerobic/anaerobic conditioning, flexibility, and "practice-on-your-own" footwork with a soccer ball. For additional information, please email Coach Janner at joseph.janner@sjsd.k12.mo.us or stop by Room 100 before or after school.
