I can’t believe this is the 12th year we have had the privilege of putting on the Western Exposure. It is always a lot of work, begin ning in April, and especially during the fall to get everything ready. I tru ly look forward to every second I get to spend in Iowa. I honestly think of Iowa, and the people I deal with out there, as my second home and family. I greatly enjoy and appreciate the friendships I have been able to develop during my time in God’s country.

I truly believe we have improved the cattle every year and one will truly be impressed with the quality from top bottom. Our philosophy is rather simple around here: we fo cus on raising cattle that are versatile for all markets. I don’t think you ever want to chase one trait or one market. Even tually, the winds will shift and one will be left standing at the altar of a dead market. We strive to market a female that can be bred multiple ways and click mated to many different sires.

Out here, in the Wild West, it takes a different animal to survive. One can’t understand until they have seen the country were we run our cattle. Not only do they have to raise a marketable calf, the cattle have to deal with pred ators, fires, drought and work hard to find grass at times; the majority of these females were raised in these condi tions and know how to survive. I truly believe that is why they are received so well in the Midwest. These cattle know how to clock in and clock out everyday! Feel free to call whenever to talk about cattle. am proud of this group. No, they aren’t fluffed up, su per clean, and clipped for a show, but they are honest. They have never had a bath and trust that policy won’t changing around here. We don’t have time to baby these things. They are in their working clothes and ready to go to work. They only look better once they make it to their new home.

Thank you for the interest and we look forward to see everyone in Dunlap on January 4th.

This is what I call an exceptional Angus! She was campaigned by one of the best families in the West. Shan Finlinson and his family showed her and did a great job. She won numerous shows, including their highly competitive, regional show in Utah. She is rocket-fronted for a purebred with an impeccable profile. Most Angus are all bones and body with no muscle. Get behind this one, and you’ll not be disappointed. Hopefully, the Angus showing lets more like her win and not the flat-made, no-dimension females that are more numerous than illegals crossing our southern border. Angus are turning into black Shorthorns, but this one has Lutton power with today’s showring profile.

We’ve all heard money can’t buy happiness. It also can’t buy a football team if you are Oklahoma or Texas A&M, but it can buy this heifer. The blue bloods are about as good at spending other people’s money as the DNC. I absolutely love this female for numerous reasons. Her markings are as cool as the other side of the pillow with those perfectly marked goggled eyes, and her phenotype is second to none. She’s soft from all angles, yet balanced and perfectly designed from her neck to her tail and down to the ground. I love my Data Bank females. I’ve never had one not work. Who Da Man females are a lot like the education system. One can dump a lot of money into it and rarely see improved results. I have had a few around my place that either didn’t milk, were too hard doing, or were not the most fertile animals. They have also been some of the highest income-producing donors for many operations. I think this Who Da Man is the latter. She has already been flushed as a virgin with great results, freezing 12 eggs on her first shot! She is a lot softer than most and has that maternal look. She also hails from a great donor out of the Sullivan program that has had so much success with Who Da Man. I can see this female becoming one of the sales highlights in the future.

She is a Thriller out of the great Sooner cow, and she is also the mother to our 120 Benz donor, who raised the $70,000 female for Wade and multiple $30,000 heifers for Dalton Smith and Staley. She is fantastic from all angles. Her sister raised the 4th overall steer at Louisville a few years ago on her first calf crop of only 2 head! She is one of my favorites for those looking to produce high-end club calves quickly. She has been IVF flushed once, giving 18 oocytes as a virgin. Results show a promising future.

He rang the bell in 2023, and numerous big-time winners came out of his sale. This one’s mother is currently in Idaho. We are taking embryos out of her; she is an excellent cow. Mom flushes well, so you can expect the same with the daughter. She has the perfect blaze face, which is almost a 100% guarantee she’ll be a productive mother. It’s a perfect cross for elite stock production. She is balanced on the ground, moderate-sized, and beautifully front-ended. I just read the other day that even Bernie Sanders has come out to support DOGE. What is happening in our political landscape? The left-wing Democrats are going 1,000 mph to left field, and not even the world’s best Border Collie can bring them back to the fold. The lifelong Republicans are the typical boring, old, white guys who love control and padding their pockets. And then there’s this ever-so-interesting MAGA movement. Love it or hate it, MAGA is the majority of this great country we call home. I wanted to check out the real story. We don’t get any political ads in Idaho because we are so heavily Republican. This fall, Trump held a rally in California. My wife sent it to me, and I said, “Let’s go; we will never see anything like this again, and I want to see what this is all about.” We packed our bags and were on an airplane for California four days later. I thought it would be a bunch of camo-wearing hillbillies, but to my surprise, it was not. There was every race, nationality, ethnic group, gender, California freak, etc. However, you want to classify people; one was in this deal. And the amount of people was absolutely insane. Whether pro-Trump or against-Trump, you would have enjoyed the outing as long as you love America. Even in California, people still love America; it was an incredible experience. I tried to get them from the guy who raised her, but he decided to let his voicemail get full and not return calls. It’s kind of a chronic disease in our industry. She’s a great female, with or without papers. Breed her to a colored dirty bull and watch out. She is soft, powerful, and smooth in a PB package.

I’m not going to be a liar. This is a 2022 model. Now, if the show industry were only honest about their birthdates, something needs to be done; otherwise, where does it stop? Soon, percentages will have purebred papers, and everything will be a cluster. We are okay with showing a heifer four months older than she is. But if we play in a 12U softball tournament and there is a 13-year-old, parents will lose their minds. I don’t have the answer, but something needs to be done. At the current rate, we are turning honest people into liars so they can compete. Every time I’m asked to register a heifer, my nose grows slightly. The easiest way to make a $5,000 heifer into a $20,000 heifer is to change her birthday, and that needs to stop! I actually purchased lots 56-60 from Gamble Ranch in Idaho. He holds all his heifers open till they are three. The added size certainly helps, but with this crazy feeder market, passing up the eventual $1,500 ticket inside is hard. These are all really nice and should make exceptional cows.

I’ve never been more excited for a government agency than the newly formed DOGE. There are talks of reducing the Department of Ag. I can’t think of anything better. Name one way they have improved or helped your operation. It’s just another typical bloated, poorly run government department with many employees needing help to make it in the real world. Are they all bad? No! But as a whole, they wouldn’t be first-round picks. Unlike the Department of Ag, this female will bring benefits and value to your operation. Last year, her mother sold to Matt Hinners, IA, and paid for herself the first shot. She will be a very consistent breeding piece. I love her snip nose; she will click with many clubby bulls.

Many people are complaining about the lack of diversity in Trump’s future cabinet. We should all agree that actual results are more crucial than diversity. That formula works well for the Kansas City Chiefs. I don’t see a 5’8” Asian guy on that team, but they’re still winning Super Bowls. This Hereford serves as our token diversity lot. She originated from the historic Colyer herd in Idaho. They raise some of the best Herefords in the entire nation, and this one fits their mold. Pretty fronted with bone and body. What a crazy world we are living in. The best women’s basketball player in the nation is a pasty white girl from Iowa. Boise State is ranked higher than Georgia in the CFP. BYU men’s basketball just signed the #1 recruit in the nation for 2025. The #1 TV show in the nation is a soap opera for men called Yellowstone. That makes about as much sense as Kamala or me explaining quantum physics. The world is changing fast. Even in the cattle world, pedigrees, types and kinds, and even color preferences are different than 5 years ago. This heifer had a feedlot-bound pedigree 3 years ago, but now I’m actually seeing some of these HIA females make it as cows and do a great job. Monopoly daughters did the same. This female has a great donor cow on her bottom side, and with that extra shot of power from HIA, I think she could do great things. I will hopefully have TH results back by sale day, but if I were a betting man, I would say she’s clean, and The Bulldogs will win the Natty again.

I am far from classy, but Southwest Is getting ghetto! I bought my wife a trip with my twin girls for our anniversary to take in all the sights, activities, and craziness of New York City during Christmas. Some may ask how I can get away during this time of year. It’s because of this type of female. Is she the freakiest thing you’ve ever seen? Nope, but this type takes care of themselves. The no-fault kind that will make a profit every year. Lay into this one, and I promise you won’t have to check cameras or miss ball games to pull a calf. This heifer is as exciting as Iowa’s offense against an SEC defense. I love how coach LaFrance got suspended for one game for recruiting. I don’t know who he was recruiting, but he wasn’t a quarterback. Iowa football is like watching paint dry on a cold afternoon. This heifer’s pedigree is similar to Iowa football. We have seen the same things countless times, but it continues to work. Banking on a profit is complicated in this industry, but this pedigree has done just that. This genetic base has paid many bills; I would bet the same with her.

Roche Cattle has taken their embryo service to the next level with the recent construction of our own IVF center. We are now able to offer in-house donor housing and ALL IVF services! We have increased our recipient numbers and are ready to help producers maximize the most PROFITABLE animals.

For far too long the IVF process has only been profitable for those performing the service. Low conception rates, late term abortions, and low egg count has hindered countless producers. Allow Western Embryo Technologies to gain your business by proving a profitable experience for all parties involved.

Conception rates reign supreme in the embryo transfer game. By eliminating variables and inconsistencies we are able to provide our customers with a consistent conception rate making embryo transfer a profitable venture.

This summer, I started to feel a nickel proud. My clipper blades were recently sharpened. I had pressed pants on with a flat-brim hat, and my voicemail was full. I wanted to go next-level steer trader and delete my voicemail, but I couldn’t. My old-timer buddy from Idaho says only people who owe others money, or are having affairs, won’t take messages. He may be right. After this cow has her calf, call me. I’ll answer it, and I will listen to your excitement! Lot 82 can flat-raise good stock. She is a very extreme bovine regarding her look, body, bones, and power. I have aspirated her once with decent results, and a cow that certainly needs to see a few more bottles of FSH in her lifetime. Her awesome natural daughter sells as Lot 36.

Interest rates have dropped a quarter point, thank goodness. We have all felt the pressure of the higher interest during the last few years unless you’re a club calf trader. The kind of interest rates they get with zero collateral, no payment plan, and everything on their terms is impressive. These club calf producers check the mailbox throughout the summer more frequently than a row cropper in a dry year. I don’t know when we will hit reset on this mentality, but it needs to be soon. This is the only business in the world that operates like this unless you’re selling Columbian bambam. Even the cartels will eventually charge interest or shoot you. Not speaking from experience. This female will probably increase your accounts receivables. She has the look and phenotype to raise the great stock traders want. He was disenchanted with her, so I gladly repurchased her. I have since banked some Good As It Gets embryos out of her, and she is super excited for those to hit next fall. She is a unique specimen. You will not find a more significant, more powerful female with the extension and softness that she possesses. She is flat awesome. Is she overweight? This is the only daughter that we have offered. She is flat awesome. Super long, freaky fronted with massive bone foot and great hair in a clean package. Just like mom, I would expect good flush results.

Here is an awesome proven cow that has raised some great stock. She is a beast to look at and has just the right amount of color. She has been flushed 8 times with amazing results. She is super fertile and would be a great donor to use as a base. The most expensive part of her flush bill will be the freezing cost. She can flat get it done conventionally or IVF. Iowa wild and Idaho wild is about as similar as Iowa corn and Idaho corn. After a few rounds night and morning of a hot shot lighting her up while getting donor shots, she quickly succumbed to a 9-volt battery and has been a gem. She has raised an outstanding Red Angus female we kept in Idaho and an excellent steer we sold this year that went to Arizona. I hate EPDs, but my bull buyers want them, so I give the people what they want! Whoever at the Angus breed thought it was a good idea to inflate these numbers as they have strictly for marketing should be fired. This is what a great Angus is supposed to look like. Over the past few years we have placed thousands of frozen embryos from numerous producers across the United States. We noticed a great range of conception rates and quickly realized we needed to do quality control. In 2022 we built our own in-house, IVF Center where we are able to aspirate and use our own in house lab and technicians to provide a quality consistent collection. Conception rates reign supreme in the embryo transfer game. By eliminating variables and inconsistencies we are able to provide our customers with a consistent conception rate making embryo transfer a profitable venture.

First of all, I want to thank Trevor for this bear hunt. We went to North Central Idaho with Jay Roche and two other guides. Between their stories - some true, and some I’m not so sure about - and the scenic country, it was quite the experience! Trevor calls it “God’s Country,” but I’m not sure about that.

We hunted with dogs that had GPS collars, across creeks, rocks, trees, snow and other obstacles. At one point, the bear was 12 miles away from us and circled back and ended up 1.2 miles away. The dogs treed him, thank heavens, because I wasn’t sure if I wanted to walk 12 miles in the mountains to shoot him. The hospitality Jay showed us was second to none. Besides wrecking two four-wheelers and tearing the front end out of one pick-up, everyone came back in one piece with lots of pictures and stories.

I could go on and on about this hunting trip, but Trevor said to keep it short! Thanks again, Trevor, for one hell of an adventure.
