Academic Strength

Close Personal Connections At Cabrini, we believe a great education can be fascinating, challenging, life-changing, and a lot of fun. Working together in small classes, professors and students get to know each other well. That makes for interactive, interesting discussions. It opens the way for them to team up on research and service learning projects. It means that as a student here, you will have faculty mentors looking out for you, alerting you to internships and other opportunities, helping you reach your goals.

With class sizes averaging about 16 students, Cabrini gives real meaning to the phrase

“ up close and personal.”

Hands-On Learning Biology majors put science into action to save a local creek. Communication majors create a video boosting AIDS awareness. Future teachers work with children in area schools as early as sophomore year. In the classroom and in the field, Cabrini students learn by doing, and you will too. It’s a powerful way to understand new ideas, build skills, and get career-ready—especially when combined with internships and co-op experience (see page 13).

Infinite possibilities

Real Research You may not think of yourself as a researcher right now, but you would be surprised how fast that could change. Cabrini faculty enthusiastically support their students in pursuing research projects, and the results are impressive. Students in every major are active in research, exploring topics ranging from prion pathogenesis to TV coverage of elections. They present their findings at the annual research symposium on campus and often at national conferences.

Engaged in Learning A Cabrini education is about making powerful connections—with people and with ideas. The National Survey of Student Engagement reports that Cabrini students score higher than peers from other colleges and universities in all four of these areas:

1) active and collaborative learning 2) student-faculty interaction 3) enriching educational experiences 4) supportive campus environment

Study Abroad From science in Switzerland to Semester at Sea, Cabrini has an international opportunity for you. Choose an eight- or 10-day experience or a full semester in Rome, London, or Australia. Consider doing an internship or service project abroad. Take your choice, make your plans, and add a global dimension to your education.

There are some pretty big challenges facing the world.

Shouldn’t you be ready for them?

Justice

Matters At the heart of the Cabrini experience is a liberal arts curriculum that helps you to use your education to make the world a better place. It’s called Justice Matters, and it includes a groundbreaking set of four courses that lets you explore topics ranging from environmental action to democracy and diversity. The goal is to help you build the skills and understanding you’ll need to make a real difference, whatever path in life you choose.

Campus Life

Living & Learning Communities At Cabrini, learning extends far beyond the classroom, and one of the most exciting ways that happens is through Living & Learning Communities. LLCs give you the chance to live together on a residence hall floor with other students who share a particular interest. LLCs provide connections around career exploration, social justice, academic achievement, film and media, and more. You’ll participate in activities on and off campus and make connections with new friends and with the professors who serve as LLC liaisons. There’s even an LLC for commuters.

Once you start to get involved, you find that

the more you do, the more you’ll want to do.

Getting Involved Write for the paper or run for student government. Start a radio show or star in a musical. Participate in a recreational activity such as the baseball or cheerleading club, indoor rock climbing, or paintball. Or get active in campus ministry, community service, or an organization focusing on your future career. Cabrini offers you the choice of more than 50 clubs and organizations. That means many options to unwind and have fun, to explore your talents and interests, and to grow in leadership and teamwork.
