CENTRAL, CHURCH OF GOD Newburgh, NY Renovation of a former gun range. The renovation was a 12,000 sq. ft. project with a budget less than $25 per sq. ft. (Including parking lot upgrades) I serve as the only professional designer for the project in charge of all design and submissions. I also represented the church before the building department and zoning board.

Schematic design of possible allocation of activities for the outside. The building host a daycare, bible school for children and adults as well as many community programs for adults and youth. The floor plan needed to accommodate the sanctuary, classrooms, large multipurpose lobby area, kitchen and administrative offices. The final design counted with a 450 seat sanctuary, 5 classrooms, Audiovisual room, 5 offices, conference room and a kitchen.

The construction project was completed in 3 months working around the clock. As the only designer the pressure was intense but good communication between the project manager and me made a good difference in the outcome. The building was used as a gun range so lead contamination was a big problem and one more added inspection. The sanctuary needed control and flexibility in illumination. I calculated lighting levels to fit between a class room and a theater.
4EVER YOUNG UNISEX HAIR SALON Town of Newburgh, NY This was a very fast project. The drawings were put together in one day to be submitted the following day to the building department. The budget for this project was very minimal as well. In this location I was only in charge of doing the architectural drawings, the interior decoration and equipment was assigned to another person.
10 4Ever Young Hair Salon
The design puts the main spaces towards the front of the salon. I included for the client a break room and a waxing room located at near center of the salon. The back of the salon host the hair washing stations. I see this activity more private so in the design is located at the back of the salon. In addition, plumbing is closer to the back of the salon so that will save the client some money. I also put the hair draying stations to the front because some hair stylist get busy with new clients and forget they have a person in the dryer, this way they are always visible.
SOUTH SUDAN SCHOOL This project was challenging because the area is very rural with no electricity, running water, or access to conventional construction materials. Bricks had to be made on site and wood was to be partially collected from site as well. I had to study local construction dimensions and techniques to accommodate the range of possibilities for my design. I gave them two possible designs for the floor plan. They needed to house a large multipurpose classroom along with bedrooms for the teachers and some of the students. This project was stop and is on hold due to civil war.

STOREFRONT CHURCH Bronx, NY This is just an schematic design exploring the possibilities of use for a Christian congregation. The design maximizes space to accommodate more people as well as it provides multipurpose room that by the use of removable walls can add into the main sanctuary space. The schematic design was done as response to a previous erroneous design made by a person who had no understanding of the proper spaces needed for worship.
Max Capacity Removable walls are open and the multi purpose room is use in combination to the main sanctuary to seat 245 people.
Dinning Hall The multi purpose room here shows how it can be use as a dinning hall for small church parties and meetings.

Regular Use Here the sanctuary can be use as well as 2 class rooms in the back separate by removable walls and partitions.

INWOOD PARK TOWER New York, NY Inwood Park is the northern gate to Manhattan. This tower serve as an iconic structure welcoming people into the city and helping relieve some of the housing needs in this area. Also I see this park as been a bit underused so the additional program will add more life to this area of the park. a. Tower division diagram, b. Apartment units and circulation, c. Tower diagram, d. The design is a parametric tower that mimic the fluidity of the river. In addition, the tower divide itself to provide views, air, and light to the inner tower. The tower view from different angles provides a new revelation of movement as it serve as an iconic piece for northern NYC.

The purpose of the tower is to serve as a residential and commercial site to service the housing, and commercial needs of the Inwood area. This is a double tower with a beach, nature center, gardens, and amphitheater areas. The design provides interiors with morphic walls that flow with the inhabiter and frame spaces in a composite way. Views of the inner tower are made to showcase the elegance of the internal movement. c.
The building provides communal interior balconies so the residents can interact.

The gardens are to showcase some of the native park plants as well as to provide a way of restoration to the parks vegetation. The amphitheater allows for a more formal area to the summer Shakespeare plays. The beach with its intended to function more like a pool.

BRYANT PARK TOWER New York, NY This parametric tower works with two main design concepts, first how the tower touches the park and how the park grows vertically. Today modern library need to have a sense of fluidity. The building itself tries to show that fluidity in its design and partial translucencies.
26
Inwood Park Tower
The initial design started with physical study models of programmatic allocation of spaces. In addition, it was important to incorporate a natural growth of the building as a mean to expand the sq footage of the park in a vertical manner.

The building evolved from a complete circular design to a c shape . It felt more welcoming to the public as well as helped orient plants to the sun maximizing it exposure.

B2 BARCLAYS CENTER B2 was going to be the tallest modular constructed building in the world. It was design to have a commercial traditionally built base with a modular top hosting 32 floors of apartments. This is a partial building section possibility, put together after a meeting with the project architect at that time Mr. Brook McDaniel. Today due to a series of event the building is been built in the traditional steel frame form. The modular building design had over 25 different modular units. This wall section is an adaptation collected from sketches drawn with Book McDaniel project Architect for B3 at SHOPS architecture firm.

COASTAL APARTMENTS Queens, NY This project explored different apartment layouts. The bi level approach gave the small apartment more room for the eye to travel, and an enlarged perception. The floor plans for efficiency keep the bathrooms and kitchen stack on top of each other. Right off the entrance you have access to the kitchen and bedroom.
Coastal Apartments
The apartment has large 44 windows that bring light to all spaces eliminating the need for electrical lighting.
This perspective section is an early sketch that explored a little with heights and light.

SCREEN PANEL MODULE This project explored the use of CNC routing systems. The design used Rhino and RhinoCam along with the organic nature of trees as seen in the upstate New York woods. The CNC router carved the figures out of two wood panels. To allow for translucency we use clear plexiglass which was heated and molded into the wood. This project was a team project. I contributed with the design concept as well as the logistics on how to build it. In addition to my partner my brother helped me mold the plexiglass and glue the pieces together.

STORAGE UNITS The project explored the idea of storage. As a team project we look into creating ceiling units that can be attach using magnets. The magnets allow for an easier propagation of units. In this project I collaborated with the initial celling storage concept and the physical creation of the units.

MORPHIC PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE The bridge not only serve as a connector but it also demonstrate the viability of movement and light. The composition of the bridge is one that shows the bridge doing more than connecting, or reacting, but provoking movement and light. The images demonstrate some of the dynamics in color, and movement. The images also show the structural composition of the bridge. The main parts are composed of a membrane withheld by harms which are themselves attached to the walkway.
