URBAN HEART SURGERY, RESURGING The BRIDGE STREET, Werribee, Australia Deakin University, Australia, Master of Architecture Urban Design Studio - SRD764, 2013 Studio tutor: Rodriquez
Werribee - Urban Design Framework This project vision is to revive Werribee by inserting a ‘green’ identity into the heart of the town centre and to lead Werribee into a contemporary and sustainable living precinct. Several design stages were proposed and each identifies different problems and threats in Werribee and ideas are proposed to solve and cope with them. First design stage is to create a strong identity for Werribee, then to tie it with a proposed ‘green’ belt enhancing better human circulation and to connect the residential, landmarks, nodes and the commercial zones together with a new proposed bus station, so locals and visitors can access the newly developed town centre with ease, therefore reviving the town while creating a higher density. As the density grows, more future opportunities can be brought into Werribee and turning it into a contemporary living town.
