Are you ready to be fully immersed in adventure? Step off the street, take a seat, and belt up for the Big Screen! But first, how do you choose what films to watch at the Festival?

Go for the big stories with our Stand Alones; we have 26 epic features to choose from. Head to the top of the world with the first female Nepali Sherpa in Pasang: In the Shadow of Everest. Accompany speed climber Quinn Brett as she confronts a journey like no other in An Accidental Life. Join sailor and explorer Matt Knight and his expedition-trained family as they follow a historical map to find very modern treasure in Savage Waters, and meet them on stage after the screening! Or let us guide you… Our curations of short films chosen to delight, surprise and excite! Sink in for a wider film experience. You can choose from activities and elements you know and love such as Climb, Mountain, Snow and Water, go for themes such as Human Spirit, or Rise Up, or test your boundaries with Outside Thinkers and Outside Artists. And rub shoulders with the filmmakers in real life! 58 of the films selected this year have sent representatives and we are excited to be joined by editors, directors, sound designers and athletes; a wild pool of talent. The challenge of capturing adventure and exploration is unparalleled and we are thrilled to honour this amazing number of creatives at the Festival. Get your questions ready for Q&A’s after the films! As part of our work on supporting filmmakers, we set up the Kendal Mountain Festival and Rab Film Grant in 2021 to commission stories we felt could change the outdoor world. Join us at 4.30pm Saturday at the Buff Bothy Stage when we will launch last year’s winning film We Are Nature by Jaha Browne and Olivia Martin-Maguire, and announce the recipients of this year’s £10k film grant from our wonderful shortlist of filmmakers. And finally, the most important element of film at the Festival: the Awards! Who will you be rooting for? Join us at 6pm at the Buff Bothy Stage on Saturday in the Basecamp, when our esteemed Jury will reveal their decisions for the 11 Prizes. From Best Creative to Grand Prize - this is the moment the filmmakers have been waiting for. So dive into the Film Programme! And let us know which ones were your favourites! The biggest prize of all is the People’s Choice Award - find out how to vote on the opposite page...
