Wadi HanIfah is the inspiration for the design of the landscape. The wadi brought life to the old city of Riyadh and up until now plays a vital importance to the lives of the people in the city. It is for this reason that the wadi is well-represented in the language of the landscape of the mall.

THE ENTRANCE the concept for the arival is to make it as natural as possible--far from being a “staged artificial landscape . We wanted to make it more understated yet still having this dramatic appeal to guests. One of the primary strategy is for the forest to blur the boundary of the development and the mounds to create visual corridors, enclosures and surprises.
75 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
76 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
POOL The pool is the main landscape element of the deluxe resort. The design involves seprating two different pools in different levels to ceate interest and infinity edges. The geometry tries to break the harshness of the architectural lines and tries to soften it.
77 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
DELUXE LOBBY The idea behind the design of the lobby of the hotel is to veer away from the typical porte cochere. As part of the entry experience guests will be dropped from a walkable distance to the lobby where they will have to traverse a pathway surrounded by water and enclosed by planting
78 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
HOTEL ATRIUM Each of the hotel buildings has a landscaped atrium The concept is to make the flat ground look like a canvass for an artwork. The landscape design involves big patterns and swaths that become water and planting beds.
79 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
BRIDGE The bridge linking the mainland to the Burau Island functions both as a pedestrian and buggy network and as a landscape sculptural element.. The design of the bridge is a sweeping gesture of curvilinear geometry with a designated pedestrian and buggy separation and protruding decks for pedestrians to use as an outdoor living room.
80 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
THE LOOKOUT At the end of the bridge are cantilevered decks protruding to the sea offering guests a breathtaking view of the karst mountain landscape in the background and the sea.

BLOW UP PLAN
ARRIVAL The entrance to the development is situated on a high promontory which we took advantage to create a dramatic experience. The arrival experience involves going through a threshold of rubble wall cladded with rough local stones and an olive grove on a gravel patch. Right from the get go, the visitor will catch a glimpse of a fenced paddock where the horses roam freely. The planting of the entrance is arranged in a grid-like manner which is reminiscent of rows of Mediterranean plantations. From the entrance, the visitor will catch a glimpse of the lake, the cascades, and the polo pitch. The arrival is indeed a visual feast of materials and landscape elements. KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
83
PERSPECTIVES
STREETSCAPE The design of the streetscape aims to blur the line of the road and the pedestrian space. The path of the car is still carved by planting, boulders which act as bollards, and railway sleepers. Niches of sitting areas are interfaced with the street.
PERSPECTIVES
INCIDENTAL SPACES In some areas, the horse path converges with landscape incidental spaces, which is part of the experience of interaction with the horses. The incidental spaces are simple in their layout and design and uses a particular palette of hardscape materials to convey the idea of a rustic retreat
PERSPECTIVES
THE POOL The pool is a simple thin rectangular water feature, punctuated by walls that spout water. The key element is the materiality of the pool deck and the pool itself to convey the Mediterranean theming of the landscape.
86 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
INCIDENTAL SPACES Simple bold planting of swathes of grasses and freestanding walls of rubble stones dominate the landscape.

Al Habtoor Polo Club is envisioned to become the premier polo club in Dubai with 2 championship fields, a hotel, an academy, and 100 private villas. The landscape concept follows the architectural theming of Mediterranean farmhouse style. IL MOJITO RESI DENCES
Mojito is composed of 7 residential towers from medium-high rise, rising from a planned mixed use development in the southern Philippine city of Cebu. A podium level landscape that is centralized to serve all the towers is the centrepiece of the landscape design. The design of the landscape capitalizes on the change of elevation caused by the above basement parking, wherein the big landscape move is to carve a space in the middle of the basement parking to convert it into a sunken landscape amenity.

One of the primary themes of the development is inspired luxury--a landscape that complements the modern and contemporary architecture of the residential towers. The landscape must then provide an atmosphere of exclusivity and extravagance. Capitalizing on the architect’s plan to put the landscape on a podium, the landscape takes advantage of the level changes to create spaces that are both intimate and grand, unique, modern and chic. The changes in elevation provide dramatic settings for the spaces. These includes a sunken forest, a sunken drop off, and an iconic chapel.
100 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
Visual Corridor: The overall masterplan of Citta Di Mare, where Il Mojito will rise contextualizes the central visual corridor of the development. A spine of open space opens up this space from one development to another. The design respects the intent of the plan. In

addition, several visual corridors were also introduced in the design by creating axes and focal points from one end to another and paths that link spaces. Feature Spaces: Because of the clustering of the residential towers, pockets of spaces were created. The design aims to provide different experience in each of the pocket spaces that were created. These include a passive area where

play courts and a massive lawn are placed, a passive space where an iconic chapel will be built, and a semi-passive zone where a variety of activities can be done on a flexible space.

PERSPECTIVES
ICONIC PAVILION A modern and iconic architecture greets residential users and guests alike. The idea of a grand welcoming statement is achieved by creating a volume of a simple yet stylish pavilion. It serves as a transition space for guests who will use the function spaces underneath the podium landscape. The view of the sunken forest can also be glimpsed by guests who will use the grand steps.
102
KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
SUNKEN FOREST Considered the gem of the landscape, the sunken forest is an intimate space depressed by a full floor height from the podium landscape. The idea is to create a pocket of space for function and a landscape that changes levels and creates interest.
103 KENNETH SERASPI + DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PERSPECTIVES
The Pool The pool wraps around the sunken forest creating an infinity edge that creates interesting angles when viewed from different vantage points. The Pool is part of the overall geometry of a diagonal visual corridor that connects a sunken drop off to another space in the podium landsacape.
