The Struggle for Truth People desire to know things. Most of us, a statistic admittedly based purely on Hope itself, want answers to life, to divinity, to science, etc... There is so much to take in, and so much to contemplate, that it can be be very overwhelming. Humans, for the most part, few are those who really know and many are they who believe. We don't really know what we are talking about when we believe things. It's only that we know and have a true knowledge of what we are saying when we take understanding from our experiences with the truth itself. When we don't have knowledge then we are left to believe in things, things which may or may not be true. Sadly, as soon as our life begins, many are programmed to believe from infancy by those who do not know. Many are they who are in the dark. As we have no idea who is right or wrong, who to trust about what, what to believe, what not to accept as truth, etc... this list of upsetting circumstances can continue. There are so many half-truths and misrepresentations of real knowledge flying around. This especially in our modern age of the internet where many a selfish manipulator can vomit nonsense and develop a personal following comprised of believers – often people sincerely searching for answers, however with less critical intelligence than their manipulators. The widespread misuse of most spiritual tools and spreading of half-truths stem primarily from ignorance or an individual's misplaced sense of importance. People who are in the dark about things repeat other people's subjective ideas to each other, when no one truly knows what they are talking about because they lack a personal experience with what is true. There is a difference between knowing something and simply conjuring an idea with the creative Human imagination. All one can conclude from the usual, average Human experience is that “All we know, is that we know nothing. At the very least, that's a God's honest answer. Where are we to turn our investigations towards now? Our only real answers are going to come from learning in our own experience and within our personal connection to what is really divine and transcendent. Now, one can not arrive at the truth unless they understand how the psyche itself, which they posses, operates. Why is this? It only makes sense that if you were going to examine something, you must understand
the true nature of what that thing is with which you will be using to examine things or will be looking through. What we will be looking through, will be the perspective of our own psyche. Complete with all it's parts, it's gears, and parameters of operation. The psyche which we have, has some main principles to it's operation we need to address at this point: 1. It's has cognition; this means our senses are owned to that (sight, taste, hearing, smell, feeling, etc... as well as emotional, empathetic/sympathetic functions based on memory, and also our intuitive/metaphysical functions which come from the consciousness). 2. It receives impressions through these senses. 3. It's has a certain way of function as it's means to interpret these senses. Thus: We have to know the nature of the senses that we have. We have to understand the nature of the impressions we receive through those senses. ● We have to realize the nature of the method in which we interpret our impressions that we receive. ● ●
By close examination of these things, we can gain insights into what the things are which occlude and obscure an accurate interpretation of our impressions. All process' and faculties of our psychology MUST be studied and learned from, because it is only once we learn the true nature of ourselves that we can then come to better understand the nature and truth about the reality we exist in. We will come to see how we, as a microcosm, are part of the rest of creation. We will see how the creative universe around us, itself, acts as macrocosm. As it happens, there exists now a debate in the intellectual world surrounding our psychology we'll address at this point. The question proposed is that: To what do we owe the origins of the consciousness and how is it a part of the mind? The origins of consciousness, our essence that is being expressed, is something better owed to the realm of the “spiritual” (or any other word defining something beyond the known physical and mental dimensions; transcending) because consciousness itself transcends the level our mind operates on. This is very important to understand. This is why compulsively intellectualizing over an idea of an answer will push any real solution farther from our realization. The consciousness itself is not part of the Human animal mind. There are things in life that are not meant to be experienced only through the intellect.
With proper individual experience, through both mistakes and growth, one will come to learn that our consciousness is not a product of the physical organism or the brain but has it's origins within eternity that is beyond and outside of the temporal existence we so easily identify with. We are part of something, a Being that is greater than our own identity with time and animal life; A verb of Being that has always been, and will always remain, long after our individual personal identity has transformed, one way or another. Indeed, all energy is borrowed but only for a time; It gets manipulated, it can be transformed. Then it is ultimately returned to it's absolute origin. The struggle for truth is uniquely a human problem, yet it doesn't have to yield only failure and tiny glimpses into the mysteries of our average life. One must thus be above the average. One must be comfortable with what isn't comforting. The struggle for truth will only end when one either gives up or finds it.
OBJECTIVITY and SUBJECTIVITY As Humans we have the objective mind of lucid place and we have the subjective mind of ideas; However, the requirement for them to operate in conscious, harmonic equilibrium usually escapes our ability in operation. When we don't have Objectivity we replace this void with Subjectivity. This in itself is not any fallacy of our psychology by deliberate personal fault but becomes one however, when we mistake one for the other during an absence of awareness. Such a principle is illustrated to us well, when we examine ourselves compulsively intellectualizing over an idea of an answer to believe in, causing any real solution to be pushed farther from becoming realized. This is how our human minds sadly tend to operate. What knowledge we receive through experience is something objective (meaning it's there, outside of any ridiculous assumptions that it isn't). Idea itself is subject and not necessarily a bad thing; However, what ideas we come up with when we lack experience is something solely subjective in a sometimes not-so-good way (meaning we created them because we are missing pieces of an objective puzzle). We may posses an understanding of a general idea about a thing but it may not necessarily reflect the way things really are, realistically. There exists a tendency to fill in the blanks sort-to-speak when objectivity is missing. We then hypothesize and theorize; We form opinions and we come up with ideas. These things are fine in themselves, however what we absolutely should not do is then present the subjective as truth, nor should we dwell on them longer than needed. We need to challenge these ideas then. We need to validate them in operation. If we fail to do this, because of our own presumptions, we make the mistake of believing what the mind comes up with - what it conjures to fill-in-the-blanks. Without awareness we mistake reality for the ideas our mind dreamed up. Ideas which we convinced ourselves were the truth because almost no one wants to accept the possibility of their ideas being invalid. With regard to this principle, the psychological basis from which we operate is a position from within the identity when it occurs that almost no one wants to accept they are wrong. Our ego is prone to have us confused through subjective beliefs. Some people, albeit a large statistic as example, are apt to become easily possessed by the identity that wants to own intellectual rights to it's ideas.
Very humble is the person who understands when they are wrong and can be strong enough of character to admit it, against the resistance met by the desire of the identity to be right or seen as perfect. Such usually happens because we haven't matured psychologically. The part of ourself that desires and wants to be identified as perfect, likes to funnel all of our awareness into itself. It thrives and runs on our sense of being. This, as a principle of action-reaction, causes us to forget our real selves that is our Monad and essence, by funneling our sense of being into the identity rather than the faculty of consciousness that is our pure transcendent awareness in absence of the ego/id. When we believe anything, especially this principle, then that is our mistake we will have to suffer. After presenting and understanding these problems now, which the human species face, then we can discuss the nature of this more in depth.
Reality and it's Missing Pieces The average majority within Humanity walk around believing that everything they are aware of is all there is, all that exists. They believe that only the impressions they are aware of equal the totality of reality. This is wrong. There are a great many things that exist, many more things in fact, that are the bigger composition of reality. These unknowns are beyond what we are normally aware of. It is the usual mistaken position of human logic that: “Only what we are immediately aware of is all there is. It is however the truth that: What we don't know, and what we are not aware of, also constitutes reality (the greater majority, not to mention). Many times, in life in general, it is all the things we do not know and are not aware of that get us people into the worst of troubles. The remedy to this is first awareness of this principle. Second to this, we have to do something about it. What then? We must replace the unknown with the known. Such is the acquisition of gnosis: Real knowledge. Coming up with ideas and subjective topics for debate does not offer as any valid substitute for those blank areas between objective truths. Thus so, to echo past wisdoms, we now put forth the following: Our goal is to unite subject and object in equilibrium, by our own willpower and under our own volition, in context of making the Unknown the Known. This is to produce knowers out of the multitudes of believers that live amongst our human fraternity. To perform such operation is a true magick. Awakening to conscious realization is enlightenment, our goal. The real Magician is the individual who plays the role of the first Arcana of the Tarot. All his/her tools are the elements of life with which one performs life's Great Work, which is the awakening of the monad. The Fool, Arcanum zero, is the one who has all the psychological tools yet does not understand their proper employment. They are incomprehensible and out of order to the Fool. Many people walk around our planet in perpetual daydream, not because of any one bad thing or mechanism of fallacy on it's own, but because they do not know anything better or of the multiple obstacles lying within. People have no knowledge of themselves or the operations of the human psyche within their possession.
What is missing is the disciplined practice of lucid self-observation, on which subject more will be presented for later reading within this manuscript. A person who is very intellectually instructed, within their own obligation, can name any sort of trivial knowledge upon request or upon their desire to present such facts; However, this information is of absolutely no use if they have no grasp on understanding practical operation for comprehending one's own self, what cognitive awareness really is, and especially how it is a faculty of the human psyche that is fundamentally different from the intellect. When we live our lives within a daydream made from subjective ideas and material distractions we identify with, then we are not exercising consciousness; we are as good as dead. We will never understand the unknowns then of objective reality. A reality both internal (microcosmic) and external (macrocosmic). "Man, know thyself and you will know the universe and the Gods." Since this ancient wisdom rings true, even today as it is overlooked or over-thought, it means we should exercise extreme self-observation and awareness; comprehension of our own acts and behaviors. To practice this: ●
We can study and understand our behavior as we exact it. We watch ourself live.
Our mind must be harnessed and under our own control until we no longer do it's will, but it does our will (like the Buddhist illustration of an individual conquering a runaway elephant). One's aim is to join and integrate the conscious mind with the unconscious mind as means to reconnect with one's elevated way of Being and Higher Self. ●
Then, upon retrospection later, we can further examine what motivates us to do anything in particular which may be the focus of what we aim to obtain knowledge of.
●
Within our dreams we can find the keys to understanding our subconscious desires that perpetuate our behaviors and actions in waking life. We can understand these things lying hidden deep within our psyche and work towards their transformation and removing the psychological obstacles we find so we can become more aware and fill in those knowledge gaps, those Unknowns in objective reality, with Knowns.
Through the elimination of unconsciousness in our behavior and states of being we can receive a kind of spiritual knowledge of ourself we don't usually posses or even bother to contemplate the nature of. This is how us people can achieve a sort of union with what is Divine, or reach that realization of Divinity. Under proper instruction the students of life can enter the hyper-dimensions of the astral planes and seek a further, deeper knowledge, especially about themselves.
Should the time happen that any student of the occult in general reach Adeptship, one can consult the hidden Master for spiritual instructions and teachings. The knowledge and conversation if one's own higher Being is the highest council any individual can hold. It is therefore and foremost, NOT the goal of the true occult initiate to obtain powers over another, or to manipulate reality by one's egotistic will, or to make manifest any other desire of the selfish kind, but that it is the goal of the student to unite objectivity and subjectivity both and their natures thereof in creative alchemical union of sorts - all within one's own growing understanding. We must take the unknowns within the dark of ourself and through rigorous, conscious exploration bring them into the light of the known. Although not a comfortable process, we must observe to realize why and understand the nature of getting true spiritual knowledge, is itself at many times very uncomfortable work. One must objectively experience the non-objective within and find it's fundamental cause for being. Most importantly one must procure an understanding from all this, or all is for naught. As we belong to the dust of the Earth which we live our lives on to awaken in, let us dig deep so that one might unearth the buried Treasure of Understanding. So let us now examine how exercising the awareness allows for learning about ourself:
Being Awake and The Monad It is safe to state that at this time a majority of Humanity are not aware of themselves very much, to any important measure or degree on a transcendental, spiritual level. Very few are self-realized in a way that they understand, through experience, what the differences are between the lower self and the higher true-self-Being. We have to first discuss the idea for the modeling of the Monad (us) before we begin to talk about awakening it (oneself) to self-realization. A monad is a unit or point of something/anything expressed within any given dimension. It is used in context of occult terms to often describe the individual Being existing within the dimension of “all of creation.” Life's deeper, spiritual purpose is to awaken the monad to self-realization. Let us examine this more in depth and what it means. In many monad models you find the difference between the “I” and the “Not-I,” the “I AM” and the “I AM NOT.” The “I” or “I AM” being a monad and the “Not-I” or “I AM NOT” producing diadism (if you really want to assign an encompassing definition of sorts for including both principles). No doubt we posses then in reality a Diadactic consciousness – capable of realizing the difference between self and what is outside the self. It's an illustration or reflection of the nature of the ego, the psychological identity (whose principles of which we will visit more later on in this manuscript). This is a reflection of the nature of the cosmos and how we require some type of vessel or identity to contain our “self” within in comparison to all else that exists at the same time with us; A principle in place in order for a monad to exist as a point within any dimension of creation. We recognize things through identity. We know that something is “ME” or “I” and we recognize something outside us that is “NOT ME” or “NOT-I.” Such is seemingly the inherent polarity of existence. As this is how we are, also is this how what created us is itself also. The nature of the Divine, of God, of the Creator, etc... (whatever you want to call it) is reflected in us, monads, in what has been created. The nature of the DIVINE is that there is ABSOLUTE NO-THING and ABSOLUTE EVERYTHING.
A model: To understand a model for the Absolute state a monad may exist as, imagine ourselves as drops of water in an ocean. The ocean is an Absolute unified state for any number of potential drops to be created from. The drops of water can not be themselves, individually, while within the ocean they are generated from. Altogether, they are absolute and a whole. All are One, in this state of Being. We are drops of water and “God” is the Ocean. A drop of water though can not be created until it leaves the rest of the water. Outside of this absolute, a drop has a Being. It has an “I AM” which contains everything that it is, and then everything which is separate from that identity can constitute it's “Not-I” or everything that it is-not. Similar to how a drop of water must leave an ocean, it's absolute, in order for it to exist perhaps another analogy is also suited to attempt to explain that we souls (essences, spirits, monads, etc...), being sparks of a bigger fire, require separating from the Source of All, a.k.a. “God” as The Absolute which generated each spark. Although it can be said that creatively there are potentially many sparks within a flame, the spark cannot self-exist without having left that source. While inside the flame, only potentiality exists; However, objectively the spark and the flame are together part of the same thing as being part of one-and-the-same unified whole, or the Absolute. As a spark cannot self-exist within a flame and that it's only when the spark leaves the Whole of the flame that it can then acquire an individual Being of it's own – so is it true that also our consciousness itself can not exist as a self-realized individual monad/singularity without having left any State of Absolution or the “whole” of it's source. We are as these drops of water from an eternal ocean. The ocean itself has the creative potential to generate seemingly infinite amounts of individual drops of water; However, they can not exist individually within the ocean should they seek to return, unless they have a container that separates them from the whole, thereby giving them their identity separate from the whole, or it can be said that also the drop can exist as itself outside of the Absolute or Whole.
L Whether you use the analogy of a spark from a flame or a droplet of water from an ocean, they both work in the same way to illustrate the principle for developing and understanding the nature of ourself and our source: The Absolute (creator) and the Monad (what is created).
We are given Being when we are created/generated through leaving the absolute. Although we posses “The Word” or we posses the Verb of Being, which is the same “stuff” that “God” is technically made of, we are however separated by it through identity. Let it be stated that we did not create ourselves. To understand this you must understand the definition and context of “we” and “us” correctly. The self does not exist until the monad leaves the Absolute. Yet it is by our own obligation we identify with things and create other “selves” which in truth are not actually part of our fundamental Being as created from the Divine – the Absolute. We create false identities because we are creators ourselves. We are a reflection of the nature of what created us, and by this it is why it has always been said that by knowing oneself you come to know/understand the nature of God/what created you. “Man, know thyself and you will know the universe and the Gods.” Yes we are people. This does not mean that the Divine/God is a person also though. Yes we are imperfect. This does not mean that the Divine/God is imperfect though. “We” is the identity, the ego talking. Perfection and Imperfection are only but a subject, an idea that “we” came up with to use for judging the quality of other things in comparison. It is however that the Divine/God is something far beyond the confines of the mechanical intellect “we” posses and use so recklessly with our assumptions and ignorant preconceptions. God is not a pronoun or an anthropod, just because we people of infantile mentality usually, and mistakenly, assign that definition to God simply because we are so identified with being bipedal mammals and not the whole of our real Being. We are not our organisms we wear. Our true fundamental nature is that we are verbs of Being, and not proper pronouns. God/the Divine is the Greater, the larger word, the omnipotent and omnipresent verb of “I AM” that same Being this creator gave to us through the act of creation. We are always connected to the Divine because of the Being given to us through the act of creation. We have to awaken our conscious awareness to the realization of all the aspects of our Being and incarnate those if we ever expect to call ourselves “complete.” Life exists that we might reclaim these unknown parts to our Being through correct action and realize them through attainment of specific states of awareness/consciousness.
Operation for Waking the Monad Now that we have at least a subjective understanding of the monad model, as well as having visited the principles of psychological operation inherent within the human organism, let us venture into discussing awakening of the monad itself: Any monad, whether we model it from fire, water, or anything else, itself can be fractured further into multiple other fragments. This same principle can be applied when talking about how we, as a soul/consciousness, have a fractured Being. We have multiple parts to ourself, to our Being, that we do not even know about. Why is this? It is because we don't comprehend the principle of this. We do not understand the process of reclamation and rectifying “lost sparks,” or “lost droplets” per-say as our prior metaphor stood to illustrate. It is because when we separated from our source, we kept inherent within us the same creative potential to make other “selves” just as our source had used to create us. As a reflection of the creator, we are creators ourselves. However, we fracture many parts of ourself when we decided to create multiple identities (usually through a mechanical process of the subconscious). It should be addressed that plants and objects have a monad, a point within creation to exist as - meaning they have an essence also (a “Being” to them or an “Is-ness”) but when we became Human we were given the vessel of a bipedal organic machine to use complete with a meat-computer brain. We were given an animal psyche to connect to the mental and causal dimensions with. We have an emotional center and astral/formative body to connect with emotions and thoughtforms with. It is thus because of our animal nature and the course of evolution that creativity can take, a human-Being (an essence or Monad existing as a Human) is evolved further than the essence of a plant or mineral and has the greatest potential to create the most complex of self-identities. There are so many other things within the psyche to get wrapped up into that we mistakenly identify ourself with what we are doing at any given time, what we may be feeling at any time, what other people impose upon ourself to be, what they make us feel we are, what possessions or abilities we might even posses, etc... etc... etc... on and on. So many different things exist which distract us from remembering who and what we really are.
So many things are illusions when we identify with them and use them to create an identity with, that we forget the true nature of our Being and our spiritual self. Whether be it a plant, an animal, a Human animal, a rock, or a single atom... all these things have a monad and are connected to a source that created/generated them into Being. We are all connected on a very, very high and transcendental level which remains a very, very obscure and occluded level to many simply because they have yet to figure out what is really going on. Many can not figure out what is really going on in reality because they are not aware. People are not awake. People are not awakened to reality of themselves. Our senses give us impressions from the external universe but it is rare that people bother to introvert the consciousness towards learning from the impressions received which come from within, from within themselves and the internal universe. People are not awake because the conscious awareness is being trapped within different “false” identities of sorts, different tangents of the ego like roots and branches on a tree. It is the essence of the tree that is it's fundamental, true self/identity but for purposes of our metaphor we can say that every branch and root chute is a synthetic identity - or self-generated thing that is not part of the original Divine blueprint/essence of the monad. On Fear and Love: Fear, although there are different kinds, is an example of being fundamentally something which originates from synthetic identities whereas Love is something from the true self or the real identity as generated from the Divine. We can conclude, upon realization of our own experience with the truth, that fear is usually selfish but the act of Love is selfless. As a quick example, an animal may fear for it's survival because it's animal organism is in danger. The organisms we wear, our bodies themselves, they are real in a material sense but in a fundamental spiritual sense these things are absolutely not part of our true essence at all. They are only vehicles for physical survival. Obviously, on a transcendental level where every essence is conscious of being free from synthetic identity there is no fear, only Love. Those who can make the kingdom of “Heaven” a living reality are those who can operate from a basis of Love coming from their pure essence devoid of any synthetic identity.
Why Awareness is Key. Imagine watching a lower representation of your real self only you can't really guide your lower self very well because it is preoccupied with distracting things it isn't even aware are distractions, neither does it understand what it means to truly be “awake” or self-aware. Awareness equals a disciplined focus. To exercise Self-Conscious awareness, to put it into psychological terms, is to employ the act of dis-associative observation, relative to the usual waking-state of the interactive mind, as a basis from which to operate. Let us simply watch ourself in approach. Many times the nature of conscious awareness can be likened to being a “watcher.” I am reminded of a science fiction story where the supporting characters are alien humanoids and when asked what God they supported, they simply replied “the watcher.” Although objectively we might conclude this story is far from our average and limited experience with objective reality (as of this present time), the subject matter of the story is not at all as far-fetched. The notion that our consciousness is part of a greater verb of Being, aka “God,” drives home a very real occulted spiritual principle. To focus and pay attention without distraction is a result of discipline for most people. To observe with conscious awareness for even a little period though, is something anyone can do who is not in a coma or has some other physiological defect barring them from understanding the practice. To become the “Watcher,” we must observe existence unfolding without identifying with anything else. Anyone can watch mindlessly, television is a good example, but the key we are looking for with awareness is LUCIDITY. To watch yourself as you observe, and know you are doing this. ●
Lucidity is a developed state of self-awareness.
Lucidity should be applied internally and externally. Then one will really come to understand the power of the consciousness. A disciplined mind is essential at prolonging our experience with observing with lucidity. This means that is we are going for a walk, we should watch ourself walking... - If we are driving our vehicles, we should watch ourself perform this act. - If we are playing a musical instrument, we should watch ourself in the act. - If we are driving and listening to music at the same time, we are probably distracted;
Nonetheless we can use the circumstance as an opportunity to watch ourself perform both actions. The wonderful thing about the Human mind is that it is a biological computer capable of performing so many different tasks at once. Our knowledge and application of Human science has yet to produce an artificial intelligence capable of coming within even a horizon's distance from the capability of the human brain. The drawback is that with an undisciplined mind, a mind without the application of lucid observation upon it, this mind becomes a maze of distractions and pitfalls which our awareness becomes sucked down into. If we are doing well with lucid living, then we will see results within our dreams. We will begin to wake within our dreams (become aware through the subconscious) and our lucid experiences within them can offer MUCH more insight into the hidden parts of our psyche we might not ever recognize while awake and moving during the day. All symbolism aside, the point is that any person can decipher meaning from their own subconscious by being aware of their inner state which they find themselves in, during whatever particular circumstance – whether it be in dreamland or awake within the physical or astral dimensions. Pay attention to the way you feel, your emotions and desires, during a lucid dream. Tips for lucidity and coming back to awareness during the stressful daytime: Imagine waking up, as you might in the morning. Everything is clear; Everything is new; Your senses are rested and ready to receive impressions. The intellect must be still and quiet. Keep coming back to that feeling of just waking up to everything being new. If a song plays incessantly within the mind, we watch ourself listening to it and, as subtle as possible, we direct our focus to the part of ourself doing the watching and away from the part of ourself doing the listening all wrapped up in the song. This is a principle of self-induced psychological disassociation. With conscious direction we are splitting the identity of the psyche into two separate “selves.” Only one is the real “us,” the awareness that is cognitively watching, and the other is the undesirable element we will give no more focus/attention to but in a very gentle, subtle way. This is how we stay in the present moment. There is no past or future, only now. Being conscious is about paying attention and focusing so all that conscious energy is not bound up within distractions or multiple “I's” and subjective identities spread all over the place like marbles on a trampoline.
You can not “force” awareness. If you are “thinking” about it, you are only letting the mind dream about the idea of it. You have to actually do it and in a gentle way. Forcing the goal of being aware, ironically, pushes it farther away. _______________________________________
With all these simple principles in mind, should the layman and neophyte put successfully into operation, they place themselves on par with any occult adept except minus the philosophies and intellectual studies. However entertaining those things can be, it is ultimately that they are useless in the end.
Work hard.
