THE EIXAMPLE:
Today, the Eixample represents Barcelona’s elegance. Its grid of octagonal city blocks is considered a masterpiece of modern planning. But before the late 19 th century this was an area of fields, factories and mills.
One still stands at the centre of Girona34’s city block: a former flourmill built in 1850, now a classic example of period brick architecture. It shares a courtyard with Girona34, a direct link to the city’s In 1872, a new residential development was started in the mill’s front yard: the building that is now Girona34. From then on, the mill was out of view of the street.
The hidden flourmill’s robust brick construction and symmetrical, windowed façade have stood the test of time. Once fully refurbished, it will start a new chapter as an institutional space for a foundation. Its busy work yard, where wheat was once delivered and shipments stacked, will now be a quiet space for leisure and relaxation.
LOCATED FOR BETTER LIVING
The right-hand side of the Eixample district was where Barcelona’s elites first built their fabulous townhouses at the turn of the 19 th century. Now, the area’s development is in full swing again.
Girona34 is perfectly positioned for city living. Its quiet street, soon to be pedestrianized, is located just minutes from Barcelona’s beaches. The hip Born area, alive with bars, restaurants, galleries and museums, is on the doorstep.
The heart of the Eixample, Passeig de Gràcia, is just a short walk away. This broad boulevard is lined with Barcelona’s top luxury hotels, designer boutiques and restaurants.
It is also the epicentre of Modernist architecture, the location of some of Gaudí’s most iconic buildings.

The Eixample Dret is the place to be.
RESTORING THE HISTORY
A tasteful restoration is bringing new light and life to Girona34’s historical character.
The building’s façade on Carrer Girona is a classic example of early-20th-century Eixample style and is listed as a protected feature by Barcelona City Hall. Craftsmen and artisans have brought it back to its former glory.
The covered passageway that connects Girona34 with the former mill also boasts protected features, such as its distinctive flooring. These, like the building’s period stairwell, have been meticulously renovated. The lobby of the new Girona34 exemplifies the lightness of the building’s new design.
A welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, with radiant white marble finishes showcased by sunlight shining through the glass-walled light well.
