ESCAPE THE ORDINARY

with the Summer Reading Kick-Off! Kick off the Kenton County Public Library’s Summer Reading Club on Saturday, June 3! Escape the Ordinary at all three locations. See www.kentonlibrary.org/src for details.

Covington Branch: Saturday, June 3, 1-3 pm “Escape the Ordinary” with inflatables, free pizza, balloon twisters, snow cones from Kona Ice and a variety of fun and games.

Independence/Durr Branch: Saturday, June 3, 12:30-2:30 pm “Escape the Ordinary” with face painting by Fabulous Faces, pizza, games and African drumming and dance with Bi-Okoto.

Erlanger Branch: Saturday, June 3, 1-3 pm “Escape the Ordinary” with bounce houses, face painting, a photo booth, games, crafts and pizza!

Summer Reading Club Guidelines Children (Ages 2-12)

Teens (Grades 6-12)

Pick up a book log at the Library and start reading or listening to books. Book logs can also be printed out online at www.kentonlibrary.org/src. After 5 books or 2.5 hours of reading, return the log to the Library to win a book prize. • After 10 books or 5 hours of reading, return the log to receive a T-shirt designed by illustrator Bob Staake, or drawstring bag (while supplies last), and a raffle ticket to win a grand prize: your choice of an art, sports or technology basket.

Friends Book Sale

Saturday, July 15, 3 pm A romp through the forest of one of Shakespeare’s most famous comedies! Two actors bring to life this classic tale of love and magic using puppets, masks and audience participation to captivate and inspire people of all ages. Runtime is 50 minutes and includes a pre-show discussion on the history of Shakespeare.

Escape the Ordinary: Animal Tales Monday, July 17, 2-3 pm Animal Tales is presenting this fun zoocational program on animal builders featuring a real timber wolf and other animals that you can meet and see up close.

Forge at the Hellman Creative Center Come to the Hellman Creative Center (a former lumber mill) for a variety of family friendly, fun, educational programs. • First Friday Family Fridays, 6:30-8 pm June 2: Ocean Extravaganza July 7: Cardboard City August 4: Take It Slime Join us for a night of crafts and fun! • Make it Move: Electronics* Saturday, June 10, 10 am-Noon Learn about electronics that make robots and machines move. For kids under 6 we will have basic blocks —the foundation of future makers. Parent supervision required. • Lumber Rumble Saturday, July 15, 10 am-Noon Practice spatial reasoning, teamwork and make great creations perfect for social media sharing! We will have building materials available in addition to wooden blocks, such as cardboard, paper, sticks for those who want to take home their Hexbug environment.
