Borrow Tools and More
A wet dry vac, flooring nailer, a universal drain wrench…these are some of the more unique items that can be borrowed from the library through Empower Tools. Empower Tools is a free community tool rental service inspired by the residents of Covington and created and sustained by the Kenton County Public Library and the Center for Great Neighborhoods. Opened in 2017, the program has lent out thousands of tools to hundreds of residents, saving residents
hundreds of thousands of dollars in deferred tool costs.
With just a library card, home repair and gardening DIYers are able to have access to power tools, pressure washers, hand tools, and more for all of their home improvement needs. This resource has helped residents increase the value of their homes, save money on important repairs, grow food at home in back yard gardens, beautify their homes and their communities, and even start small businesses.
