Bring it to the park and we’ll provide everything else you need to create a small upcycled gift of nature for yourself or someone you love. We’ll provide a plant and soil and the inspiration of the outdoors, along with materials to make a tag to name your plant. A limited number of mugs will be available at the program. Give your mug a new purpose and your space a bit of green!

Lecture by Northern Kentucky University professor emeritus and Turfway Park historian James C. (Jim) Claypool traces the origins and development of the Kentucky Derby, the world’s most famous horse race and a powerful influence on Kentucky society and culture. This program is funded in part by Kentucky Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities. A box lunch from Kremer’s Market will be provided to those registered. With support from the City of Covington and assistance from Two Men & A Truck, the Kenton County Public Library Foundation has created a project that will bring art, literacy, and community together to create a sense of place and encourage residents of Covington to sit, read and enjoy the beauty of their city. Book Benches will begin to appear throughout the city of Covington beginning in May. Six benches depicting scenes from books including “Where the Crawdads Sing,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlotte’s Web,” “A Snowy Day,” “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” and “The Poisonwood Bible” will be placed throughout the community for all to enjoy. Activities include making a word art community quilt, face painting, roaming juggler, balloon twister, scavenger hunt and games. Eats and treats include Kona Ice, cotton candy, popcorn, water, tea, and lemonade.

ERLANGER

Activities will include a sing along dance party, jump rope performers, a roaming balloon artist, water play, giant games, arts and crafts, parachute play, a video game truck, card-decorating, and more! Free snacks and popsicles (while supplies last).

Kickoff summer reading with carnival style games, food, inflatables, and a librarian dunk tank!
