Make Personalized Gifts
Not sure what to get someone for the holidays? Well, if you want a personal touch, we have some ideas for great gifts that will bring a smile to anyone’s face this season!
Bring a shirt, tote bag or other fabric item and customize it with any image you choose. The cost of using the Garment Printer is usually less than $5.
Faces and Places
This photograph shows the Ritchie family of Ludlow enjoying their Thanksgiving meal on November 28, 1901. This image is courtesy of the Robert C. Ritchie Collection in Faces & Places.
To view additional photographs of Northern Kentucky from this collection and others, visit our historical photograph database at facesandplaces. kentonlibrary.org.
Customized model railroads or tabletop gaming is another great gift. We have multiple 3-D printers for these types of projects. At $0.15 per mL most pieces can be printed for less than $5.
We also still have laser engravers so you can customize anything from cutting boards to glassware. Patrons will need to bring in their own
supplies to engrave. The library only charges for the protective tape which is only $0.10 per foot to use making engraving one of the cheapest processes we have.
You can also use our embroidery machine to customize things like towels and other household fabrics. We have a wide assortment of colors and most embroidery work can be
completed for less than $0.25.
Personalize a plate, mug, canvas pouch, Santa bag, candle holder and more using the heat press and sublimation printer at the Covington Branch. Each item is less than $10.
Appointments are required in the STREAM Center and Makerspace. Visit kentonlibrary. org/stream or call 859.962.4000 for more information.
Capture Those Memories
Look Ahead:
Holiday Market
INDEPENDENCE BRANCH:
FRI., DEC. 2 • 4-8 PM
Enjoy live music and hot cocoa while you browse the vendors to find one-of-akind holiday gifts made by local artist and crafters.
The holidays are a great time to create new memories. But be sure to capture the old ones as well to preserve your family history. Talk to members of your family and be sure to write down the information and stories. Even better, record them if possible. Family members are an excellent source of information. Also, check
with family members to find out if anyone is working on the family tree or if one already exists. Stories can only be captured for so long before they are gone. The library’s website has a great Getting Started Guide for anyone looking to learn more about documenting and preserving their family history.
