LETTER FROM THE EDITORS Another year here at the University of Kentucky has come and gone, and though it seems to have flown by, it was full of stories to be told. It’s been a year full of accomplishments and glory, but also times of tragedy and sadness. UK students cheered on a record-breaking football team all the way to a bowl game win, though things may have gotten a little out of hand on State Street. Some students danced all day and all night for the kids, and others camped out even longer for free basketball tickets. Many fought for change, but also came together to mourn the loss of friends. At the Kernel, construction-- something we are all used to here on campus-- forced us to leave our home in the basement of the Grehan Journalism for the top floor of McVey hall. We only have one couch
to nap on now, but we make it work. We have made it our temporary home. Each year our photojournalists take on the task of capturing the stories that affect those on campus and the surrounding community, striving to do each one justice. Many days we work until we are worn out. Early mornings, then late nights that turn into more early mornings, become a daily tradition, and it’s always worth it. We get to visit new places, see new things, meet new people, and this is what makes our jobs so exciting. We are especially glad, here at the Kentucky Kernel, when this time of the year rolls around and we get to create this book. We’ve packed these three sections full of our favorite photos from the past year. We hope you enjoy them, too.
All the best, Jordan Prather, Photo Editor Autumn Hassell, Design Editor
