Hi, I’m Winnie Beshear, Kentucky’s first dog!
When I’m not playing with my family, I love visiting Kentucky State Parks!
Kentucky State Parks turns 100 years old this year, and the best way to celebrate is by exploring a state park near you! You’ll find tons of fun things to do and cool stuff to see at each one.
Carter Caves State Resort Park has lots of caves to explore! You can tour Bat Cave in the summer and Cascade Cave, X-Cave and Saltpeter Cave any time of year!
At Big Bone Lick State Historic Site, you can see the bison herd and learn about dinosaurs, ancient animals and Native American history at the museum.
If you love camping, Nolin Lake State Park is a great place for a camping adventure. You can play on the sandy beach, fish at the lake or ride mountain bikes on the trail. It’s so much fun!
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is one of only a few places in the world where you can see a special kind of rainbow called a “moonbow.” The moonbow appears for about two days each month.
When visiting Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park, make sure to hike to Eagle Point Outlook for the best view of the lake and countryside.
Pine Mountain State Resort Park has the famous Chain Rock that was made in 1933. Hike the Chained Rock Trail to see it!
Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park has so many fun things to do, like hiking, riding on pedal boats, playing miniature golf and my favorite - building sand castles on the beach!
Old Fort Harrod State Park is filled with history and is one of the original four state parks. The park has cabins and blockhouses with cool old furniture, tools and utensils.
When visiting Lake Malone State Park, look for the Big Twigs family. They are fun woodland giants that are 14-feet tall! You can find the family camping, reading, fishing and more.
Natural Bridge State Resort Park has lots of outdoor activities. I love hiking to the Natural Bridge, a 75-foot-tall sandstone arch!
Now it’s your turn to plan your Kentucky State Parks adventure! You can tear off the map page and keep track of all your state park visits!
