Gill Douglas is a contemporary fine artist currently residing in Nairobi. Before moving to Kenya, Gill had the privilege of living in Ghana and celebrates this experience in her work. She was inspired by the brilliant colors and vibrant patterns of the Ghanaian Kente, batik and African wax print cloth which resulted in a collection of works combining portrait painting, collage, hand stitching and West African cloth to explore the many layers, textures, patterns and facets that form part of the lives of women. Gill attempts to capture the inherent beauty, complexities and imperfection of the human face, with each brush stroke and element of collage and the distinctly decorative quality of the resulting work, Gill explores the varied roles of women and how connection and beauty, in all its forms, is at its core. Gill’s custom portraits and artwork can be found in collections across the world. CELESTE de VRIES Settled in Nairobi, Kenya, Celeste de Vries is an artist who has spent many years travelling and working throughout Africa. Whilst living in Nigeria, Celeste exhibited (solo and in collaborations) in Nigeria and in the UK. Besides Kenya, her works hang in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, UAE, South Africa and various other countries in Africa. A self-taught artist, Celeste was born in Pretoria, South Africa in 1965. She has always had a passion for producing fine detailed art and has been a commissioned artist since her teenage years. She has developed her talent over time by experimenting with different mediums and subject matter, finding a preference in depicting wild life and nature. She often challenges herself with varied subject matter and medium from murals to miniatures, using charcoal, pencil, ink and all types of paints. Her subjects are often depicted in great detail with emphasis on movement and light. Her philosophy regarding her art is that the viewer should derive as much pleasure from looking at the piece as what she had producing it. Nadia Wamunyu is a well-establish contemporary visual artist. Born in Kenya, she strongly believe that she was born an artist. The universe neglected her hearing but gave her sight and a mind to work with. Her art is an expression of herself. At the tender age of eight she realised she could record her memories, experiences, tastes and feelings through drawing. Now people understand her perspective, how she thinks, her vision and desires much more effectively. Her art feels like a relief from the stress of vocal communication that she struggles with. Her wild brush is the only tool that complies to the dance of the rhythm of her soul with every motion and brush stroke she makes. Her art not only decorates society, it also expresses emotions, struggles, desires and most importantly her perspectives. Nadia also view artists as the third eye of society; this skill is like a pass to a special and unique dimension of the world and society, that only they can access. Nadia reports her findings and reactions to these revelations by replicating it on the canvas or paper. Nadia aspires to have her own studio and experiment with other art forms i.e. portraits, memories, women’s rights, feminism, culture, environment and illustration. She uses charcoal on paper, coffee, inks, bleach and oil paint on canvas to create her artwork. CONTACT: +254707012603 nadiawamunyu@icloud.com https://nadiavisualartistcoke.wordpress.com

Milena Weichelt was born in Hamburg and arrived in Africa when she was only one year old. She grew up in Kenya, where her father's love of safaris took her family to the bush frequently. Much to her parent's dismay, her main activity on those adventures was to collect all kinds of insects and take them along. She considered their car to be an "insect bush-taxi" and, in Milena's words, "You never leave friends behind." It was during those early years that Milena fell in love with nature and African wildlife. Milena's art is naturally inspired by her unforgettable childhood memories, and her pieces have found homes all around the world. She initially trained in Germany as a Silversmith but a chance meeting brought her back to painting, where she combines silver with acrylics and various materials, creating a distinctive style of flowing, bold colours and textures combined with graphic elements. As an active nature conservationist, Milena hopes to preserve and share her passion for a green environment by sharing art that speaks to people’s hearts.
