Introduction I will discuss in this essay about the techniques and tools used in excavation, then going onto aerial photography and how that helps archeologists, which in turn will lead to codes of practice, then finally going into a conclusion.

Techniques and Tools The techniques and tools used at archeological sites are meticulously planned. Depending on the situation, they have tools for it. The tools used are household objects such as toothbrushes, hair brushes, among others. (Class notes) In order to excavate it is great to start (always) horizontally but not from the side. They decide what they want to do, either a test pit or trenches. Looking for archeological discoveries further if they have believed to find anything, or have found something in the past.(class notes) If you find anything, you have to put it in bags, find out what they are, and draw sketches. To increase the value of a sketch you can are notes and measurements. You can do an overview of what was found, such as number of houses, and construction of the houses. (Class notes) The best practice for if a human body is found, not all mixed up, is to go from skull to end of the grave. This can de difficult when the bones are put in hurriedly. The best way is to try your best and be careful. Since the bones might still have cartilage in the nose and eye sockets. (Class notes)

Aerial Photography Aerial Photography is the use of aerial equipment/devices to scan/investigate archeological sites for research purposes. (Class notes) There is two types of this type of photography, vertical and oblique, oblique is when the photographer makes the device go at an angle and is low to the ground compared to vertical which is straight up and down and 100 feet or more up in the air. (Class notes)

[SHORTENED TITLE UP TO 50 CHARACTERS] 3 This type of photography has been around since the 1920s, as technology got better so did the type of photography being produced. (Class notes) There is a support system for aerial photographers in the field, for maintaining and updating photography archives. This involves looking at photos from the past, and putting in the pictures you gathered. (Class notes) Reconnaissance in aerial photography is valid and can be invalid in some cases to finding archeological sites. It is all based on the weather though and can make it break having a good picture for the archeological site in question. What it pretty much means is surveying the area and validates a find that may need more surveying. (Class notes) Mapping happens after this, where they map where they found their find, and interpret it. As in looking at land use and developments being or will be constructed. This is to Nemo make sure data is being used correctly and for its intended purpose. Research is then done on what was found. After mapping, interpreting, and reconnaissance has been done. They can figure out what is going on and how they can make it work within the town or village. As to not cause more damage than is already being done. It can tell them about the landscape. (Class notes) This helps with finding archeological sites that would otherwise be hard to find by foot or other forms of excavation and looking. This shows archeological sites uncovered like never before (ever since 1920) to help with other experts coming in as well such as sketch artists, topographers, geologists, and many others. (class notes)

Code of Practice There is a code that all must follow when excavating human remains compared to other historical artifacts. (Class notes) When you find human remains you have to follow procedure. Getting funding from a few bodies even before digging. From what I could gather is the National Monuments Service and the National Railroad Association (NRA). (class notes) After you get the go-ahead, you have to carefully (if possible) go from the skull to the end of the grave. If it’s an artifact such as a cremation with an urn, or grave goods, etc. You have to make sure to be careful. Not hacking

(Class notes) The tools used and the codes being followed so we don’t ruin Ireland’s rich history. The first thing is funding. Funding is a big part when trying to do anything that involves destroying environments for projects being taken on. We can see that after funding is accomplished, the workers, and sometimes the community helps with uncovering ancient art, bodies, etc. This can be because
