KING YEN - MODERN

CHINESE RESTAURANT

Major Materials: maple hardwood, blackened steel, concrete-look porcelain tile, laser-cut panel, aluminum laminate, marble-look quartz. Area: appx 2000 sq ft.

This is a renovation project for an old Chinese restaurant located on College Ave in Berkeley. The client who has operated this business over 20 years expects to bring a new and modern enviorment for this restaurant and more fun with the bar added for his customers. The strong feature of the design is to blend Chinese elements with modern style and vintage furniture and light fixure. The design of the bar with LED provides another dining enjoyment and drinking atmosphere for customers to drink after their meals at a same place.

This project is to for a design of a winery which provides wine tasting and pruchasing, wine bar and food service at Newpark Mall in Neward. The challenge and feature for the design is about how to create a layout including wine tasting area, bar area and dining area, and elevations for wine display and storage with the narrow but high ceiling space. The design of the wine shelving brings out a recognizable character to impress people and highlight the space.

Major Materials: polished concrete floor, marble-look quartz, wood-look laminate, subway tile, brick veneer, drywall soffit, wallcovering, wall paints. Area: appx 1800 sq ft.

Thsi is a project for an expanding fast-food chain in San Francisco. The client expects to have a simple but elegant design with modern industrial style for the new location. With the elegant contrasts betwwen the materials and colors, and the architectural language for the desig of the soffit, a brandnew business image to be presented to the fans of the burger store. Here, people can enjoy burgers and beers with a fashionable enviorment but not as a traditional fast-food restaurant.

This remodeling loft project in Guangzhou China, after 3-months entire design process, has started its construction from Sep. 2014. The client required to remodel her 2500 sq.ft new property which was 4 bedrooms loft appartment to a brand-new space for two people - her boyfriend and her only. Inspired by Zen style, the deisgn is full of natual materials- wood, rock, and marble arranged in large area on walls and floor with simple but lively curves which symbol water and cloud.

The purpose of this school project is to create a uniquely personal dwelling space for my client Hayley Alexander. Featuring with the well connecting rooms and the multifunctional arrangement, the design of this house brings the client a brandnew dwelling experience, which would satisfy dweller’s needs and expectation. For the client’s single life, sliding doors, Nana walls, and large windows are frequently adopted to bring abundant natural light, and to create multi-layer visual effect between the interior spaces and exterior for the dweller. Also, those arrangements are functional to enhance the using space of the house, and to connect or divide different spaces for dweller’s needs.

Hayley is a girl who always enjoys reading, cooking, collecting vintage things during her travels, and also loves sunshine, ocean, and cyan blue. The concept intends to present a customized home space for Hayley and her curiosity in life. The widely openable separations between the areas, the blue classic wall panels, the natural dry-wood lamps and the vintage decorations are the most identifie features in her personal space. This virtual project to reflect my design concepts about exerior and interior architecture for a hospitality space. Surroyal is a restaurant and bar providing barbecue cuisine and wine, and also a cosy and relaxed enviornment for costumers with the sections of indoor and outdoor. The selection of materials brings that space a wonderful conversation between the interior and exterior spaces. The LED lighting design highlights the spacial structure of the wine rack and interior space, and also brings out a special atmosphere for the dining space.

Blended Asian Style in Taiwan Area: 1770 sq ft.

The clients are a young couple living in Nantiou City, Taiwan, and both of them are educated professionals. As most of Taiwanese, they are influenced by Chinese and Japanese cultures deeply, and looking forward to have their dream house which combines these two Asian cultures together with a simple and modern housing structure, and natural materials for interior. This project is purposed to create an ideal dwelling space for this young couple, which based on their own life philosophy, taste, and their life pursuits.

The concept is about a tinny gallery in local. Based on the clientâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s requirement of designing a small kiosk business as a support for the development of local art, this tinny gallery is purposed to provide the occasion for the young artists to exhibit and sell their creations and artworks without rent . The colors and textures of the materials are simple and natural, which would be flexible to match with any styles of the artworks. The sorts of lightings, and furniture are also simple and minimal, for the purpose of creating a gallery with a clean and contemporary atmosphere.

General Intro

U+S Gallery - Biophelia Kiosk Design Major Materials: concrete floor, aluminum rooftop, hardwood joints and beam, walnut hardwood planks, blackened steel plates, and tempered glass. Area: 150 sq ft.

The biophelis design is the highlight of this concept. Inspired by the organic shapes from the nature: ferns unfurling, the shapes of rocks, and Antelope Canyon, the concept is emphasized by the repeating and changing curve lines for joints and beams, cut edges and folding lines for the woodworking, and the arch form for the gable walls of the structure. Through the evolutions fo the elements from the nature, ‘U’ and ‘S’ have been the major forms to present the architectural concept, and also the most specific features for the tinny gallery.

The client, Harrison, is a winery owner who expects to remodel the coffee store, Blue Bottle, to a wine tasting shop, to be named Red Bottle Winery, in the Ferry Building, selling the best selection of wine from his Napa winery. Red Bottle Winery provides wine selections for the customers in San Francisco Ferry Building with its luxurious interior design and decorations. Red Bottle Winery provides a place for the customers to select and taste their favorite wines, relax with friends, and enjoy the time when they stop by.
