CELEBRATING 5 YEARS AND $100,000 OF GIVING

ANNUAL REPORT 2021 www.101WomenSandpoint.com | 101womensandpoint@gmail.com

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Welcome 2022! Although we aren’t quite back to “normal”, I believe we are hopeful it is just around the corner. In spite of another challenging year of COVID 19, we had much to celebrate in 2021. It was a tremendous pleasure to acknowledge our 5 year, $100,000 milestone in November, with many members raising a glass at The Idaho Club….It was a truly special occasion, highlighted by our Fall 2019 grant recipients, the North Idaho High School Aerospace ladies, sharing their success. They have certainly validated our “why”, and we are so proud to be a part of their journey. We also were able to acknowledge 37 of our most loyal members who have voted on all ten grant awards over the last five years. We don’t take for granted these ladies continuing to choose 101 Women Sandpoint! Our membership in 2021 chose to support two local and dramatic efforts: Priest River Ministries serving women and families of domestic violence and most recently a newly formed nonprofit, UCAN, helping them to purchase critical equipment to support the needs of the disabled in our community. Both organizations have promised to share their successes with us as they move forward with their projects. Elections were held in January 2022, and 101 Women Sandpoint will continue to be led by Becca Orchard, President, Katie Greenland, Vice President, Vicki Reich, Treasurer. Kristine Rae is now serving as secretary, replacing Nancy Dooley. We also welcomed Julie Jurenka to the board in January. Ladies, we look forward to being a part of improving our community through important projects ahead, both basic and essential, as well as enrichment opportunities. Thank you to the ladies who have shown interest in serving on our grant committee….This is the engine of our endeavor, and we want any and all who want to be a part of the process to be given the opportunity. Spring is just around the corner. The snow will melt and the opportunity for new growth will follow. I am so happy to be a part of growing our response to community needs and appreciate all of you for offering your “seed” to make it possible. In tremendous appreciation, Becca

SHARING SUCCESS 2021 GRANT AWARDS

HOW WE SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY COMMUNITY RESOURCE ENVISION CENTER Watch this 3 minute Presentation

The grant from 101 Women funded the Rural Outreach MUSIC CONSERVATORY Program which put a resource specialist one day a week in OF SANDPOINT Priest River and Clark Fork. Our goal was to connect local people with the resources they needed by meeting them where they live.

We were able to partner with the two local food banks and have the resource specialist located at the food bank. The results were really good because people who are in need of food usually have other needs, too. We were there to offer other resources and make the path easier to access resources. When people are in crisis or have an urgent need it is often difficult to trust someone and ask for help. There was a built-in trust for clients who depend on the food bank to survive because we were seen as an extension of the food bank services. A consistent, weekly presence and location at the food bank gave credibility and built further trust. There were 172 individuals or families helped over 12 months because this grant was awarded. People who could not come to Sandpoint and didn't know where to start looking for resources by phone were helped. Those communities are small enough that word spread that we were there and could be trusted. We continue to maintain a staff person one day a week in Priest River because of the outcomes. In Clark Fork, the staff at the food bank are trained by us and are familiar with our services so they readily refer people to us because of the relationship we established by being on location.

SHARING SUCCESS HOW WE SUPPORT OUR COMMUNITY MUSIC CONSERVATORY OF SANDPOINT

Support from 101 Women boosted our Music Matters! outreach during a time of critical need. Because of this generous award, the music played weekly for children in grades 2-12 throughout the 2020-2021 school year. Our Music Matters! outreach provided access to consistent group practice and creative youth ensembles. Our reach continued at Clark Fork Jr/Sr High School, where the performing arts were brought back after a two-year drought. Music Matters! also taught children during the afterschool hours at Kootenai Elementary and Farmin Stidwell Elementary, plus weekly early childhood classes and performing groups at our downtown location. Attendance in all seven groups totaled 158 children, who received a minimum of 24 weeks of instruction.

Continuing into the summer, our ninth annual Summer Academy hosted 87 children during the months of July and August. Students chose from musical majors and interactive class electives in music theory, theater, ukulele, the visual arts, piano, or orchestra. Finally, the Summer Academy presented twelve open-air concerts FREE to the public, including a musical theater rendition of Wizard of Oz, youth orchestra, choir, and piano. Cumulative attendance at all events included over 600 concert goers. Thank you, 101 Women, for joining our efforts to keep music accessible, affordable and engaging.
