School Board Meeting Notes from October 2014 PUBLIC HEARING: 1. Overview of School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) Mr. Carrales reviewed with the Board the 2012-2013 District Status data from the School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas). Mr. Carrales stated that Kerrville ISD received a perfect score and a rating of “Superior Achievement” for financial management under the state’s School FIRST. RECOGNITIONs: The following groups and/or individuals were recognized: 1. Tivy Athletic Booster Club – Donation of Tivy Antler Stadium Scoreboard 2. Nimitz Elementary School – 2014 National Blue Ribbon School INFORMATION ITEMS: 1. Superintendent Performance Goal 1: Campus Improvement Plan Report Mr. Jim Harmon, Principal at B.T. Wilson Sixth Grade School, and Mrs. Donna Jenschke, Principal at Hal Peterson Middle School, presented a short overview of the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) for B.T. Wilson Sixth Grade School and Hal Peterson Middle School. 2. TASA/TASB Annual Convention Report The Board discussed highlights from the TASA/TASB Annual Convention that was held in Dallas, Texas on September 26, 28, 2014. 3.
TASB Policy Update 100 and Amendments to DIA (Local), FB (Local), FFG (Exhibit), and FFH (Local) Report The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) issued Update 100 of the Localized Policy Manual which includes revisions to Legal and Local policies designed to incorporate recent changes to Administrative and Education Codes. Legal policies are not adopted by the Board of Trustees. They reflect the ever-changing legal context for governance and management of the district, and should inform local decision making. Financial Reports The Board reviewed the following monthly financial reports: General Operating Expenditure Report Property Tax Collection Report Food Service Report ACTION ITEMS: 1. Consider Purchases of $10,000 or More The Board approved a purchase of $10,000 or more. 2. Review Personnel, including but not limited to Employee Performance, Resignations, Retirements, Professional Appointments, Requests for Leave of Absence, and Substitute Teacher List [This item may be discussed in closed session pursuant to Section 551.074.] Two resignations were approved and two professional appointments was approved: Resignations: Daniel Meek (022-14); and Jorge Salinas (9-24-14). Professional Appointments: Andrew Lozano – In-School Suspension Aide for SES and Assistant Boys’ Soccer Coach for THS; and Maricela Perez – Special Education Inclusion Teacher for THS.
